Shuffling in to Buffalo: Billionaire hockey Terry Pegula has agreed to purchase the NHL's Buffalo Sabres for around $175M. The team was teetering on bankruptcy in 2003 when current owner Tom Golisano bought it. Pegula recently donated $88M to Penn States's hockey program. At the same time, head coach Lindy Ruff has rejected a contract extension.

I'm sure Ruff will be treated fairly and given a extension under new ownership. Knowing ownership is/was changing, it's probably a good move for him to know the new brass is good with the contract he ultimately gets. Ruff is a good coach, and provided with a ownership group committed to putting the best product they can on the ice, the Sabres should be competitive.
