Announcer: 'Women Don't Know the Offside Rule': Two Sky TV soccer announcers were caught on an open mic disparaging female referee Sian Massey for an offsides call during Liverpool's 3-0 win over Wolves. "Can you believe that? A female linesman," said Andy Gray. "Women don't know the offside rule. "'Course they don't," replied Richard Keys. Massey's call was correct, according to Reuters.

Typical really from Gray.

Take a bow, son. As he's so keen on saying. Couple of wankers. Karen Brady got it right in a radio interview I heard: "you can't back a campaign to kick discrimination out of football and think it only applies to racism".

I'd just like to take this opportunity to revisit one of my favorite SpoFi comments, courtesy of rcade.

Apparently they'll be starting a "Let's Kick Women out of Football" campaign soon...

Wish I could claim credit for that joke.

I'm a red blooded heterosexual male, and to be honesty even I'm still baffled a touch by the current offside rule. :)

Kenny Dalglish's reaction was nice. For those of you not able to listen to BBC audio clips (or not fluent in Glasgow mumbling), at the start of his press conference he pointed at a female journalist in the front row and asked the room: "Is it all right for the lady to be here? It doesnae affect Sky, no? Is that OK?"

Gray has been fired.

A number of former professional footballers turned commentators don't know the offside rule (see Efan Ekoku in the last world cup).

I like Kenny's response.

Gray has been fired all right, but that was maybe inevitable ever since he took legal action against the News of the World for tapping his phone. Perhaps he wasn't aware that his ultimate boss also owns the News of the World.
