Sources: Gruden to Miami is Close to Happening: Former NFL coach Jon Gruden is under serious consideration to be the next coach of the Miami Hurricanes, three sources told the Sun-Sentinel newspaper in Florida. The website Canesport.com claims that contract details are being finalized to hire Gruden to replace fired coach Randy Shannon. Though Gruden has denied interest, he initiated contact with Miami a few weeks before Shannon's firing, a source said.

I still cannot see Gruden taking anything but a pro job.

And Shad is not the only one who is sure that this is not going to happen.

The only part of this that makes sense is Gruden stepping away from the MNF booth, regardless of where he ends up next.

At first, I was intrigued with Gruden's presence on the MNF broadcasts. Now he mostly just gets on my nerves.

I second that. I can't stand the MNF crew. I'm almost to the point of not watching MNF because of these guys.

I love Gruden in the booth. There's something about the enthusiasm I feel that I enjoy, similar to Dickie V.

Gruden's a better coach than commentator. I also like his enthusiasm, but listening to how much he "loves this / that guy" 8 or 10 times each broadcast is annoying.

Ditto to Dickie Duke. Vitale does truly love the game, but even Jay Bilas appears neutral in comparison and provides a better perspective.

Let me tell you about this guy, Jon Gruden. This guy is a guy who can make plays in the National Football League. Period.

Jon Gruden might be the best guy in the NFL at telestrating a draw play. Jon Gruden is the most talented commentator I've ever heard. Jon Gruden is a football commentator. All the does, 24/7 is live, breathe, eat, drink football.
