Little Brother 34, Big Brother 17: After Michigan defeated Michigan State 28-24 in 2007, Wolverines senior running back Mike Hart made a comment that's become a part of state football lore: "Sometimes you get your little brother excited when you're playing basketball and you let him get the lead. Then you come back and take it from him." Since then, Little Brother hasn't lost to Big Brother in football or basketball -- including Saturday's 34-17 victory. "They kind of brought it upon themselves," Spartans senior linebacker Greg Jones said.

I'm a bit of a die-hard Blue fan, but I could see this game coming. Denard Robinson's heroics had so far covered for a pretty crappy defense, and the Wolverines hadn't really faced a good defense going into this game. I thought it would be close, though. This game doesn't bode well for the rest of Michigan's season...

Growing up on the Michigan State side of the great divide, it feels alien to feel sorry for Michigan, but that's where I am right now. What the heck happened to Michigan's sports program? Do any of their teams win anymore?

What the heck happened to Michigan's sports program?

What works in Morgantown doesn't always work in Ann Arbor.

OK. What happened to their basketball program? And their hockey program seems to have quieted down a bit as well.

OK. What happened to their basketball program?

The Fab Five happened. They still haven't recovered from the NCAA bitch-slap...

Dear Rich Rod,

Please recruit defensive players. They're slightly important.

Sincerely,

YYM

On a side note, ABC had Matt Millen as the color commentator for that game. After listening to him, I can't imagine how he managed to ever get a job in the booth let alone convince anyone he had any semblance of the skills necessary to build a football team.

I have heard Millen do a decent job as a broadcaster at various times in the past.

It could be that he loses whatever capabilities he may have in any capacity whenever he comes in contact with the state of Michigan.
