Silva looked awful the whole fight - but upon closer inspection didn't appear to be hurt too badly. I couldn't figure out why Sonnen's take-downs were so much more effective than the litany of guys who came before him. I know Rogan was all over Sonnen's wrestling pedigree - but that isn't the first time Silva fought a wrestler. Just a bit surprising that Sonnen was so consistently effective.

In any event, Silva was about 1:30 away from giving that belt up. Sonnen needs a re-match.

And yet again, after the fight everyone (except Brock Lesnar) forgets the insane trash-talking that preceded the fight.

Sonnen didn't protest the tap out that much. The replay shows a single tap on Silva's thigh.

Also - for a fight he dominated, Sonnen looked like he had the shit beaten out of him. Silva was out struck and out positioned for about 23 and a half minutes, but Sonnen looked like he got the worst of it. Just shows how dangerous Silva is.

I watched an 8 minute highlight version of the fight but it didn't look like Silva was out struck. Maybe I need to watch the full fight but Silva looked to be the more dangerous of the two when things were still vertical.

I wouldn't mind a rematch but I'm in no hurry. I'd rather see Belfort get a shot first.

Out struck in the sense that he was hit in the face more. Silva was more dangerous when they were on their feet, but they were on their feet for a sum total of about a minute. I think Sonnen was successful on every take down attempt.

Yeah, I think Belfort is next. Pending that, Sonnen has a case for another shot.
