Timberwolves President: Beasley 'Smoked Too Much Marijuana': Minnesota Timberwolves President David Kahn told a local radio station why the team's new power forward Michael Beasley was worth acquiring despite some off-court stuff. "He's a very young and immature kid who smoked too much marijuana and has told me that he's not smoking anymore, and I told him that I would trust him as long as that was the case."

Kahn is smoking dried sage from Granny's hanging bundle in the pantry and thinking it's hill-grown Jamaican.

Good to see leadership quality in the Timberwolves organization is consistent in quality. Sure, I believe him too, David.

How many more of these before David Stern flies around the country with a needle and thread.

It's been very, very hard trying to maintain my inner illusion that Kahn was a smart guy whose moves would come together into some kind of basketball-sense vindication. I nearly made it a year before I had to admit to myself he's probably even less competent than McHale was.

Being a Wolves fan is a mighty hard dollar.

Funny, it's always seemed to me that it was the 'Wolves management smoking something.

The validity in Kahn taking Beasley at his word is not something I want pass judgment on. While history says that the Beasley is more likely to follow the path of Chris Washburn and Roy Tarpley than John Lucas, the risk of giving up only a pair of second round picks for a guy that was a consensus top pick.

Kahn was also fined by the league for making the statement.

Not sure that living in the Twin Cities is conducive to clean living. It's a long, cold winter when you have nothing to burn... (and I haven't touched the stuff in a lot longer than Beasley)

I'm concerned. How much is too much? I mean - it's the NBA. 90% of the league is stoned. If he's smoking too much in that group, he must have some kind of direct-inject system hardwired to his body.

But, hey - at least Kahn is a complete basketcase - sober or not.

This is the same guy who traded Al Jefferson (for Kosta Koufos and two future first round picks) because he traded for Beasley (giving up a second rounder, and the rights to swap future first round picks) after signing Darko Milicic to a 4 year $20 Million deal? And he's accusing Beasley of smoking too much pot?

Pot meet fucking kettle.
