My picks -

I want to pick the Habs, but Pens in 6

Boucher has to look human at some point, so Bruins in 7

San Jose is only as good as Nabakov, and he's looked shaky at times...Wings in 7 (and payback for 1994, finally...)

When all things look equal, look at the goaltending...Niemi/Huet aren't as good combined as Luongo...Canucks in 6

and grum, what took you so long? =D

Devils by 6 under par...dicks. No but seriously:

I'll be cheering for the Habs but I'm picking Pens in 6

Give the Flyers credit for sacrificing the body to block shots, but sacrifice they did. Bruins in 5

As I said last round, Sharks won't choke until the second round. Detroit in 5

What was that I said about a curse? I guess I was making that up. Vancouver in 7

Pitt in 7 - Habs always play the Pens tough, but home ice should be enough for Sid 'no longer a whiner' the Kid.

Bos in 6 - Boucher will not win two series, Philly is starting to battle injuries, and Bruins are getting stronger.

Van in 6 - Hawks looked shaky in rd.1. Physicality should favor the Nucks.

SJ in 6 - I'm certifiable.

I want to see Pens-Flyers bash each other's brains out in the East finals.

San Jose in 6 Vancouver in 7

Revenge for '94? Didn't the playoff wins in 1995 and 2007 already do that?

No, because for the first time, the Sharks are the shaky #1 seed, and the Wings are the upstart "underdog"...

posted by MeatSaber at 01:27 PM on April 29, 2010

Penguins in 6 because they are just the stronger team

Bruins in 7 because they have the hottest goalie in the tournament still and that is what it takes in the playoffs

Red Wings in 5 provided Jimmy Howard stops his swiss cheese impersonation

Canucks in 7 because someone has to eventually win the series and the stronger goalie in this match up is Luongo

Montreal in 7 (Halak is on)
Bastin in 6

San Jose in 7 (there goes the all Original 6 semifinals)
Chicago in 7

posted by NoMich at 02:17 PM on April 29, 2010

It's not too late to change my pick, is it?

I'll jump on the "Luongo is the man" Vancouver bandwagon. I do like the kids in Chicago, but I better bet on the 'nucks to represent Canada since I think Montreal has done all it can do.

Vancouver in 6

In the East:

Boston in 7. This one will be a brutal series, but in the end Rask maintains form and Boucher slips just a little bit.

Pittsburgh in 5. I'd say 6, but I just can't see Canadiens allowing someone else to celebrate at the Centre Bell. 7 is possible, but I think there will be a little hangover from the upset of the Caps.

In the West:

Vancouver in 6. Luongo proves to be just a little less porous than Niemi or Huet. Both teams will light it up, though.

Detroit in 7. Wings are finally getting it together, and the Sharks nearly had a fatal attack of "Caps' Syndrome". That they didn't succumb is surprising, and they will not survive a second round.

Pittsburgh in 5 Philadelphia in 6 Detroit in 6 Chicago in 7

My picks reflect my dream scenario. Battle for Pennsylvania in the East while Detroit gets to stick it to Hossa (and the rest of the Blackhawks /vomits) in the West. All leading to a rematch for the third year in a row.

Keep those fingers crossed

Is this to imply that I should make more changes?

Picks are locked...sorry if you missed the bell...

and Spitz, you did well enough in the first round that I wouldn't imply anything...

I wanna switch to the Bruins in 6. It hasn't started yet. Come on, man.

The Penguins have NEVER closed out a series at home duing a year they won a cup. Thats 12 series.

posted by Debo270 at 02:11 PM on April 30, 2010

So I guess they'll close out at home & not win the cup :)

Love that idea... =D

and Weedy, I switched it...damn stoners... =D

I dunno ... must've been a good high, Weedy. I'm blinded from seeing the Flyers play live earlier this season in Edmonton ... I just saw line after line of gritty, good hockey players (Philly, not Edmonton, of course). Down 2-0 to the Bruins does not bode well for my Philly in 6 pick.

Despite the late flash by the 'hawks, I'm confident in my switcharoo in that series though.
