Michael Phelps' Endorsement Career Has Not Gone to Pot: A new Subway ad with swimmer Michael Phelps and spokesman Jared Fogle shows where Phelps goes when he gets the munchies -- and helps prove that his endorsement career is going swimmingly in spite of the photos last fall of him smoking a bong. "Yes, Kellogg declined to re-up with Phelps, but tellingly, other endorsement deals remained intact: Speedo, Omega, Subway and Mazda China," writes Dan Neil in the LA Times. "Subway didn't hesitate to stand by its man (though it did postpone the current ad campaign six months to let the agita die down). Mazda required Phelps to record a minute-long mea culpa directed at the people of China -- mortifying but harmless. In June, Phelps inked a deal with H2O Audio, maker of high-end waterproof headphones."

It's not just the existing endorsements that bode well.

There may be a chance Phelps can get signed up with companies like Lucite International and Alcoa.

Makers of clear acrylic tubing and aluminum foil.

And there are rumors of a possible gangbuster deal with either the Diamond Match Co., or the flammable fluid division of Bic International.

Visine is not going to be left out of this bonanza. They're getting right in there as well, so I've heard.

Can the Wrigley Co. and Airwick be far behind?

Seems to me that Taco Bell would have been a more appropriate endorsement.

Jim Brown thinks Michael Phelps should become an advocate for marijuana.

Yes, Kellogg declined to re-up with Phelps

Genius move, Kellogg. I've never seen a stoner want to chow down on rice krispie treats.

Seriously though, can't we just legalize it and be done with it? Every time I think about pot being illegal and alcohol being legal, I think my head's going to explode.

Which, of course, is when I turn to the vaporizer for relief.
