The Last DiMaggio Brother is Dead: Dominic DiMaggio, the last survivor of the 3 baseball brothers died early this morning at his home. While he may have been overshadowed by his more famous brother Joe, he was a very talented player and a member of the Red Sox teams that featured Ted Williams, Johnny Pesky, and Bobby Doerr.
Learned watching the Yankees game last night that Dom DiMaggio was the very first name legendary Yankee Stadium PA announcer Bob Sheppard ever announced.
He was truly a excellent baseball player, and it really is too bad he was so overshadowed by his brother. Obviously when anyone would say the name "DiMaggio" it wouldn't be Dom that popped into your mind.
What was also discussed during the Yankee broadcast was what a incredible person and true gentleman he was. Rest in peace.

Coincidentally TS1 and I were by brother Joe's resting place this morning as her folks are in the same cemetary.
