The date has finally arrived! In just a few hours, early Saturday afternoon New Zealand time, the first race of the 31st match of the oldest trophy in sports, will begin. Will the defenders keep the Cup? Will the Swiss challengers, stocked with traitorous Kiwis, take the Cup, and the right to defend it, to Europe? Will anyone watch? Are you pumped for the America's Cup? (tap, tap) Is this thing on?

I watched - looked like Tim 'The Toolman' Taylor had been working on the Kiwi's boat.

Now that Oracle BMW (and thus San Francisco's chance at hosting the next America's Cup) is gone, I'm not watching. It's basically New Zealand vs New Zealand anyway. So, whatever.

Wow. I guess that didn't quite go as expected.

You'd think that there would have been more coverage of the Americans getting knocked out, but I heard/read zilch. Until the U.S. is on the verge of winning the cup, ESPN, et. al. won't care.
