The expansion draft is now over.: I hate to say it, but they made some great picks. Some great veteran defensive palyers and a few offensive weapons with great potential such as Avion Black. Will they become competetive too quick like Carolina and Jacksonville and later fall apart due to the cap? Should there even be an expansion draft?

Well, on the one hand, the draft helped my Jags get out from under their cloud of salary cap hell fairly quickly. On the other hand, we lost three starters, one of them a future HOFer. Painful, for sure, but necessary these days it seems. And now the Jags get to play the Texans twice a year. Sterling Sharpe said something pretty insightful during the broadcast yesterday. He said that the Texans were the favorites to win the division that includes three teams with a combined 19-29 record from last season. Now, I don't think that will happen (I hope that doesn't happen), but I do think they'll get competitive pretty quickly. "Too quick"? I don't think so...at least, I don't see them making the conference championship game their second season. Aside from that, who knows?

definately need to already start wondering about cap problems with the texans. they've got 14 roster spots to fill and only $10 million to work with.

If you ask me they shouldn't just have expansion drafts, they should have dispersal drafts periodically giving bad teams a more limited opportunity to select some players. This is a lot better result for the league than having Boselli, Sharper, Lewis and associates get cut because of the salary cap. I think the Texans can compete fast. Jermaine Lewis should play WR in addition to returning kicks, where I think he will turn out to be a big factor on offense, he had plenty of success before Offensive Genius Brian Billick showed up in Baltmore. I just wish they'd find a different solution than David Carr for QB. They are going to miss out on Julius Peppers, who is going to the Hall of Fame.
