Round 2 Standings Many thanks to qbert72 for checking my totals. Still probably a good idea for everyone to double-check their picks and points, though.

Round 3 Pick 'Em Buffalo vs. Ottawa Anaheim vs. Detroit THE COMBINED BONUS Here are the current top three leaders in plus/minus (see the complete list):
 1. M. Nylander (NYR) +9 2. T. Numminen (BUF) +9 T3. J. Franzen (DET) +8 T3. D. Kalinen (BUF) +8
Pick the three players who will make up the top three leaders in plus/minus at the end of the conference finals. This will be cumulative across all three playoff rounds, so players from eliminated teams can still qualify. You will receive 1 point for every player you correctly pick in the top three, regardless of individual position. If you pick all the players in the correct order, you receive an additional 2 bonus points on top of that, so 5 points total. In case of a +/- tie, the tiebreakers will be points, goals, game-winning goals, and shot percentage, in that order. So in the list above, Franzen (6 pts) would beat out Kalinen (4 pts).

Fucking Detroit. I'm tempted to pick them to make the finals considering the run they've managed to pull together, but in the confidence pool I have the Ducks and Sabres so I'm going to ride that through to the end. ANA in 6 BUF in 7 Meszaros Numminen Franzen

So far the Senators are 2-0 on days when Roy Halladay gives up 6 or more runs in the third inning. I don't know whether to be scared or strangely comforted by this.

posted by DrJohnEvans at 09:01 PM on May 10, 2007

If the Senators are going to be good on days when the Jays suck, then the Cup is guaranteed.

posted by mkn at 09:00 AM on May 11, 2007

Well now I just need the Sabres and Ducks to sweep.

posted by qbert72 at 01:15 PM on May 12, 2007

How does Roy Halladay being on the DL for the rest of the playoffs affect the Sens?

posted by apoch at 03:17 PM on May 12, 2007

The Stanley Cup is being flown into Buffalo as we speak, and will be presented at the end of tonight's game.

Obviously we should've done the penalty kill bonus question THIS round, and not last.

You must be shittin your pants right now, Doc. I'm pulling for your Hens big time. Not just for this series either, but to win it all.

Yeah, pretty much. I even created a new blog to handle the emotional overflow.

With one conference finals in the books, here's the current +/- standings:

T. Numminen (BUF) +11 4pts M. Nylander (NYR) +9 13pts J. Franzen (DET) +9 7pts
Kalinen (+9 but only 5 points) and Redden (+8) won't be able to break the top three. If Franzen does well and Chelios catches fire, wingnut4life has a shot at the Five Bonus Points of Improbability.

posted by DrJohnEvans at 06:58 PM on May 19, 2007

Wow, sorry, I guess Yahoo! hadn't updated their stats listing when I posted. Here's the correct +/- standings after yesterday's game:

T. Numminen (BUF) +10 4pts M. Nylander (NYR) +9 13pts J. Redden (OTT) +9 8pts
Franzen (+9, 7pts) can still break the top three, but Kalinen is eliminated.
