Link Dump!!!1!!one: This SI article is probably too meta for a front page post. Apparently Ron Wilson, head coach of the San Jose Sharks, "pisses excellence."

What does one drink in order to piss excellence?

Mexican coke, perhaps?

Funny coincidence: I crap mediocrity. Good thing is, Crow-like, I only use one square of TP at a time.

Well, if it makes you happy, it can't be that bad.

Isn't it wonderful that now, when I drop a deuce, I immediately think of Sheryl Crow? Not that I didn't before ...

Ray Emery is one stylish man. Don Cherry has a permanent hard-on for his suits.

Have you heard of Ethylene Tetrafluoroethylene? Of course you have, it was used on the facade of Allianz Arena. Now it is going to be used on the Beijing National Stadium and Beijing National Aquatics Center being built for the 2008 Beijing Olympics and can be seen in several proposals for the 2012 London Olympics. Business Week article.

Jake Peavy wearing the Padres' 1972 uni. The players' mugshots on the big screen were doctored, and Cameron was shown in a huge afro as he came to bat in the first inning. The crowed cheered, Cameron looked up, smiled and stepped out of the box for a moment.

That uniform is a stunner, but this one is better.

the old Padres uni had a certain bananaliciousness to it.

posted by jerseygirl at 10:27 AM on May 14, 2007

Please, dear God, tell me I'll have a chance to buy one of those '72 retro Padres unis. AS JG says, it'll save me looking for my dancing banana costume for Halloween this fall.

Aaron Hill steals home. From some guy's camera phone last night. I don't know whether to be impressed that he caught the steal on video, or dismayed that he was apparently planning on capturing an entire Royce Clayton at-bat.

posted by DrJohnEvans at 09:29 AM on May 30, 2007

Thanks for that. Knowing what's going to happen makes for incredible tension. Fucking MLB won't let anyone post Youkilis's inside-the-park home run from two days ago to YouTube. Can anyone find it?

posted by qbert72 at 10:39 AM on May 30, 2007

MLB will have the Hill clip down shortly, I'm sure. They're real sticklers about that whole "rebroadcast, reproduction, or other use of the pictures and accounts of this game without the express written consent of Major League Baseball" thing. This includes making your own recording, as stated on the back of every ticket. Man wrestles leopard in his underwear. Yeah, it's a cheesy Yahoo story and it's likely everyone has seen it, but I love this story. And the reason I love it, beyond the obvious man-in-his-underwear-wrestles-wild-beast-in-his-bedroom marginal sports angle, is the fact that his daughter was in bed with him because she had been frightened out of her room by a mosquito. I can see her during the confrontation standing there with her arms out -- "Am I going to get ANY rest tonight?"

posted by The Crafty Sousepaw at 12:38 PM on May 30, 2007

Did he then use the leopard as a paper-weight? If not, I'm not reading that.

Just watched the Aaron Hill steal at MLB.com, and man, was Pettite asleep at the wheel or what? He's just idling there, looking at the runner on first base, for what seems like an eternity. Great move by Hill.

"from some guy's camera phone last night." That's awesome. It's one thing to see the packaged highlights, but that was like being there. So much more exciting.

posted by justgary at 01:45 PM on May 30, 2007

Even funnier is that the runner on first was the guy who came in first in this study.

Some of you may know me as skater because of my former screen name (njsk8r20). Well, it's true, I am a skateboarder, or at least, I used to be. The footage is at least eight years old. Locations include: Black Ave. - Charlestown, MD Inner Harbour - Baltimore, MD University of Deleware - Newark, DE Oxford area schools - Oxford, PA and yes, that is an '81 Honda Accord.

That's some awesome stuff. What time era are we looking at here? And who's covering that Minor Threat song?

posted by NoMich at 07:50 AM on May 31, 2007

Time era I guess would be 1991-1999. I can't believe that you have to ask about the song, NoMich, considering that I sent you a CD. It's those kids from down under, Silverchair.

posted by MrFrisby at 08:21 AM on May 31, 2007

Oh yeah. I knew it sounded familiar. I actually haven't listened to those CDs in over a month. They're all packed away and sitting in some storage facility somewhere in NC.
