Volleys of the week.: Just had to point out Crouchie's stunner against Galatasaray and then Van Persie's killer strike against Charlton on Saturday.

I hadn't seen the Crouch one yet. That's amazing. It looked like a friggin' caber toss.

He's big, he's red, his feet stick out the bed.

Can we make this a regular feature?

Luh-OVED the van Persie strike. The way you cann see him alter his step just a bit before striking the ball. Awesome.

Reminder that GoalMine is around. Needs more contributors in my opinion. I submitted the van Persie goal recently.

GoalMine deserves a FPP if it hasn't had one already.

Van Persie shinned it. Lucky goal. ... Goalmine has been in an FPP, but hasn't had its own FPP. There was a post around about the time of the world cup and the Holland - Argentina game, which led to postings of Bergkamp's goal* against the South Americans, then Maradona's mazy run against the English, Owen's pacy run against the Argentinians and David Platt's last gasp volley against Belgium. At the time, my thought on GoalMine was that it was marked out more by the goals that it didn't have, than by the ones that it did, but as the amphibian points out, that's down to us, I guess. *The goal in question is the second one shown in this collection - the first shown for the oranje. I always pick this video to show the goal, because it's the only place I can find the excited Dutch commentary, rather than the commentary GoalMine has, which makes it sound like the commentator is reading a train timetable.

Apart from that one.

Aren't turtles reptiles?

Yes, they are.

Never thought we'd see Crouch score off a bicycle. Didn't think he had the muscles to leverage that frame a full speed up an over. Amazing!

Bergkamp's goal I don't think I could ever get tired watching that. I think my favourite bit is the keeper's reaction. It's as though the last part of his body to accept what just happened is his right arm, which remains in the air long after the ball has come to rest.

I found goalmine by way of Ufez Jones' FPP. And terrapins are in fact reptiles. And bullshit it was a shinner ;)

But apart from the fact that you're not an amphibian, there had been an FPP for goalmine and it wasn't a shinner, I stand behind my post! Quite a long way behind.
