Got time for another hockey pool in your life?: If anyone is interested, I, or rather my alter-ego, set up another hockey pool with a much different format; Pick 20 skaters. No roster moves once the puck drops on the season. G, A, SHP, GWG are the only categories. Pretty simple, right? And low maintenance. Everybody loves low maintenance. Anyway, feel free to join. Sorry, you have to register, but the process is pretty painless.

DrJohn, you want Big Mama Thornton.

You want Henry Thornton, defender of the Bullionist position.

You want celebrated playwright Thornton Wilder.

posted by chicobangs at 05:37 PM on September 26, 2006

No, chico, you're thinking of Thornton Hickspittle the 3rd, not the famous Bollywood director, Thornton Wilder. BTW, Mr. Wilder is the inventor of the pan-shallow-double-hickup shot you see so much in South Central Canadian cinema these days.

Ah, yes. You are so right. That camera angle never fails to bring a tear to my underpants.

Love low maintenance so I am in. I had to leave one of my picks out because all I had for a first name was the letter M and there were two. Better to pick someone else than to pick someone with only 5 points last year! Another curse of being a new hockey fan. (Who was too lazy to look it up tonight).

I'm in and I'm gonna kick you guys right in the ding-ding!

I'm gonna F all you guys in the B. And then later, maybe I'll win this hockey pool.

Oh, goody! Another hockey pool for me to dominate!

posted by grum@work at 04:18 PM on September 27, 2006

If you can dominate this one without having to rely on 6 transactions a week, trawling for this week's player on a hot straek, and sewing up better than average goaltending then more power to ya! (mind you, that whole strategy has never worked for me). seriously, I am very interested to see if your hockey pool acumen extends beyond the yahoo pool. best of luck. we'll all be watching. bwa ha!

What if we all pick the same 20 players?

I think the universe collapses into itself.

Speaking of hockey, here is my favorite pic of the ones I took at the NJ vs Washington preseason game. The Devils player is David Hale, I don't know who the Capital player is. I'll post more pics later.
