I've noticed that SpoFi is starting to get a bit, well, ghettoized. The baseball people post only stuff about baseball, the soccer people stick to soccer posts, etc. My suggestion for June (not May because it has already started and we might need "setup time"): Everyone "trade" sports with another user for at least one post. [more inside]

For example: StarFucker could trade with me, so I would research and post a story about soccer (his obvious favourite), and SF would research and post something about baseball (or hockey). Everyone list a sport or two and then we either randomly match off with another user or we can just pick one. It would do the following:

  • Prompt people to learn more about sports they don't normally follow. I'd be forced to learn more about the EPL, or cricket or Formula One racing.
  • Promote more postings. Maybe if we space out the timing, we can avoid a flood on June 1 and it gives people a chance to prepare their posts ahead of time.
  • Provide a different perspective about a sport than what is normally posted. For example, if I were to tackle Formula One racing, I might post about the cult followings that certain manufacturers have or maybe something about the physics of the sport.
Is anyone else up for this idea?

And before anyone asks, no I was not drunk when I posted this.

let people post what they want

I refuse to post about baseball except when it comes to money matters. If I was dictator, MLB would be in big trouble.

It's a good idea and all. May be interesting to read, but I think I am sticking with baseball because it's what I know/love best. :)

Bleeding ell, I posted on boxing, formula 1 and general cobblers. I would be quite happy to post on cricket.

Okay. Obviously this idea isn't going to go anywhere.

I think it's a good idea. I'll make an effort to post something outside the vito90 box.

Feel free, but to me personally it sounds like too much work. I'm more of a general fan though -- my interests are all over the map.

I've posted all kindsa stuff. Gumball 3000, sports movies and TV shows and music, tennis, golf, marathon, baseball, ping pong, the list goes on and on. I also interview SpoFiers. And run the EPL Fantasy League and weekly reports. Social engineering cannot make this place brilliant. Some of us like focus, some of us like to cross-train. Live and let live. Oh, yeah, I almost forgot. I'm brilliant.

er, my last three posts have been to Extreme, Other (London Marathon), and Other (Grand National). I was preparing a post on rumours that Bristol Rugby club was going to merge with Bath, but I'll let someone else have a go...

I think I'm going to start substituting the phrase "Go LIVERPOOL!" when I mean "Go FUCK YOURSELF!" Think it will catch on?

I'm still sore no one commented on my sportscaster post. It was easily the most imaginative post of the last few months.

What, D? What did I miss?!?
