Barry Bonds Throws Teammate Under "Speeding" Bus.

Or he didn't want to incriminate himself. Could be either. Stop acting like you know. posted by justgary I don't claim to know and I worded that part of my post poorly, but I think everyone else should stop acting like they "know" something negative on McGwire because they have proof on Bonds. Has McGwire ever denied taking Andro when it was legal?

Barry Bonds Throws Teammate Under "Speeding" Bus.

God I'm going to hate watching Bonds break Aaron's record... That makes 250 million of us! If he admits to taking even one off-market substance, his whole stance falls around him, and the only people going to Giants games next year will be bringing eggs, tomatoes, torches and pitchforks. On the road, YES! But, he's like a hometown politician..."He may be an SOB but he's OUR SOB." Bonds epitimizes whats wrong with baseball. He's also the reason that McGwire didn't get in the HOF on the first ballot. Mac never tested positive for anything that was banned. He just didn't see any benefit in talking about the "past". Because of that, he's held accountable for Bonds' "present". It's just wrong!

Carpenter shuts down Padres

When someone translates what wolfdad said, please let me know. Wolfdad made perfect sense to me. If you bled Cardinal Red you would know that he is refering to our ace, centerfielder, 1st baseman, Ichiro Lite (aka Taguchi), rookie slugger, et al. In case you don't understand the first paragraph, Walt Jocketty is very good at finding inexpensive acquistions and giving them a try. When searching for a diamond in the rough sometimes you get a Carpenter, but sometimes you wind up with a Ponson. As for the Ankiel reference.......Surely to God you know something about Rick Ankiel!!! Rock Red Indeed wolfdad!!!!

Roy Oswalt dominates, Brad Lidge turns out the lights as Astros beat Cards

"Denkingered" Is now a verb. I love it. Even my kid yells out the Denkinger name whenever there is an obvious blown call, and he wasn't born until 7 years after the original "Denkingerization". I guess our children do listen to us after all. I don't necessarily think the umps are on a mission against any particular team, however. It is more indicative of the lower standards throughout our society. That is all the more reason for Instant Replay to be implemented into all major league sports. There is to much $$$ on the line for the results to suffer from people who don't take pride in doing their jobs correctly the first time.

Roy Oswalt dominates, Brad Lidge turns out the lights as Astros beat Cards

As a Cardinals fan, Lidge scares me big time -- his presence basically makes any game in which the Astros take the lead a 7 or 8 inning affair (wish we could say the same about Izzy). I agree. But as a Cardinals fan, I hope we have seen enough of Julian Tavares. He has been extremely ineffective for the last 2 months. I hope TLR has gotten enough of a Tavares fix to last him into the WS. Can you say "Free Agent"?

Another KC Chief behind bars

I don't think that being rich makes you stupid or guarantees that you can get away with anything (see Martha Stewart). It's the culture that these guys have come from and in a lot of cases the colleges do NOTHING to improve their character. In fact, read the police blotter from many of the football factories and you see the local superstars listed repeatedly. In many cases, that's where they learn to say "I'm sorry" and are reinstated to the team. Now that's what I call preparing them for the professional ranks.

NL Cy Young: Carpenter may have tipped the scale

I know the Cardinals are winning their division by a LARGE margin, but, consider this. Carpenter is 4-0 against the divisional 2nd place team this year with an ERA against them of 0.82. He has beaten Clemens twice, Petitte, and Oswalt. If the Cardinals were on the East Coast the media would be screaming for the Cy young AND MVP awards for that kind of performance. I think he is worthy of serious consideration for the dual honors.

Orioles Void Ponson's Contract

Raffy cheated and it helped the O's win games. How many times has he contributed enough to actually help his team make it to playoffs? But fans will buy tickets to watch him hit the big flies. Still generates revenue. Too bad for Ponson that no one wants to buy tickets to come out and see how big his hangover is.

OLN Could Be Seeking To Add MLB And Pro Lacrosse

To your point, lbb, ESPN didn't begin life with MLB, NFL, and NBA. I recall ESPN from the early 80's as having that "Wide World of Sports" approach. They were lucky if they had any highlights of MLB games to show on Sportscenter. They grew their business into an obviously mighty powerhouse with a very similar plan as what OLN is attempting to put together.

OLN Could Be Seeking To Add MLB And Pro Lacrosse

If dodgeball can survive more than a couple of weeks on ANY channel then there's room for lax, too. It'll never displace one of the big 3, but it doesn't have to to generate revenue/profit for the folks that are wanting it.
