Sports Bio

I've got a decent college basketball story to tell that involves Duke and UCLA, administrative idiosity, camping out for rights to a lottery for actual game tickets, administrative betrayal, Christian Laettner's evil eye, and a book mention.

But it's too many details and my ADD has already kicked in.

Why put it like this?

Heh heh. Actually, it's the latest twist in cross-marketing. Hollywood's merely seeding awareness for Terminator 3: Rosy, the She Bot.

God forbid we should ever combine sex appeal and sports.

Brazil v Turkey.

Ah well. Bra(s/z)il and Germany it is then. Just like I've been telling all my offline friends. :)

Brazil v Turkey.

Here we go Turkey, here we go... Come on, Turkey, g-dammit! By the way, is the two-clap chant fairly common, or is the original Axis regrouping, as in: "Nip-pon! (clap-clap) Nip-pon! (clap-clap) ..." ..and observed during the Germany-Korea match: "Deutsch-land! (clap-clap) Deutsch-land! (clap-clap) ..." All of which reminds me of that old private joke between Japanese and German businessmen: "Next time let's do without Italy."

Brazil v Turkey.

ok, updating my hobbled prediction: 1. Turkey 2. Germany 3. Korea 4. Brazil (still not betting)

Germany v Korea is semifinal 1.

hey, anything goes ..and has, right?: 1. Turkey 2. Korea 3. Germany 4. Brazil (with the standard but-I-won't-be-betting-on-it disclaimer)

Business as usual.

Eh. I guess every new upstart has to run the gauntlet of Doubters. Even if they win magnificently, some people will still claim it was a fluke. Hell, some people are still dissin' the Lakers. Yeah, whatev.

Spain robbed by linesman

Speaking of that kind of boning, what about the Univision Lara Croft-ish-slash-techno babe who introduces the games? Hummana hummana. Univision's presentacion rocks.

And yeah, (referring back a few posts) ..Collina.. that ref is cool to watch. In a flattering way, he would translate well into a videogame or movie character. He's just so lovably expressive. Back to Hiddink.. I think his cautious-expectations approach has been right on.

Guus--heh, that does feel awkward to type--Hiddink.. looks like a class act. I heard him speaking fluent Spanish to a Univision reporter, so that makes him, far as I know, trilingual (on top of Dutch & English), and is most certainly boning up on some passable Korean while on the current job. Now he's the first coach to take two different national teams to the semis.

At this point I say nuts to the conspiricists. My admiration grows for France, et al, with each new wave of spoilsport whining.
