In a 60 Minutes interview(982k .wmv file) ARod shows Katie Couric his Memorabilia Room and points to a couple of MVP Awards and situated between them is something he refers to as "The Babe Ruth Award"1,2 and he adds, "it is for the most home runs in Major League Baseball". Why would ARod have an unengraved trophy on his shelf and then incorrectly identify its significance?

Prelude to a faces punching

Yeah. So. Apparently you can't send CDs from China without a receipt. Or they have to be sent through Beijing to be inspected. Or something. I can't really be sure. I returned to the post office with a co-worker to help me sort it out and was met with no resistance. I sent lil_brown_bat the one I had with me and will attempt to send the rest very soon. So keep an eye out for it and let me know the condition. The lady that packs things in secure boxes was the one who said I couldn't so I had to go with a plain simple envelope although two of the discs are pretty well protected. For sorting purposes the first disc with Chinese music is blue. The second disc with English songs, (and four hidden lockerroom related tracks), is yellow. I have created and included a third disc that is orange to sort of make up for the delay. It is all over the place musically. The final track is sort of a musical eagle with a tear in it's eye. Pretty amazing. In fact, I just made it available for download. 1. Squirrel Nut Zippers - Ghost Of Stephen Foster (3:32) 2. Scissor Sisters - Kiss You Off (5:02) 3. Revolting Cocks - Do You Think I'm Sexy (5:33) 4. White Zombie - Boogie Man (4:48) 5. Prick - I Apologise (2:48) 6. Squeeze - Cool For Cats (3:11) 7. Ben Folds (w/ R. Wainwright) - Careless Whisper (3:42) 8. Book Of Love - Witchcraft (3:43) 9. Flipsyde - Trumpets (Never Be The Same Again) (3:58) 10. Bodies Without Organs - Sunshine in the Rain (3:28) 11. Puff Daddy feat. Mase, BIG - Been Around the World (3:57) 12. Scissor Sisters - I Don't Feel Like Dancin' (4:48) 13. Digable Planets - Nickel Bags (3:18) 14. The Gourds - Gin and Juice (6:24) 15. Squirrel Nut Zippers - La Grippe (3:10) 16. Marty Robbins - Devil Woman (2:52) 17. Buck 65 - The Centaur (3:22) 18. Buddy Holly - Fool's Paradise (2:27) 19. Red Simpson & Junior Brown - Nitro Express (2:54) 20. Marty Robbins - The Master's Call (3:07) 21. Diamond Rio - One More Day With You (Dale Earnhardt Mix) (2:48) I have received discs from lil_brown_bat and bperk. Hooray!

I'm burning them now. The English language companion to the Chinese version. Two songs are on both but in different languages. Butthole Surfers - The Shame of Life (3:19) 04. Jonathan Coulton - We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions (3:57) 05. Corinne Bailey Rae - I'd Like To (4:08) 06. Coincidentally, I hope to have the English language companion finalized, burned and ready for release. Yeah, that's right, a double-CD from China. I can't seem to ship anything to my family so if I'm going to the post office it is with significant contents. Cheers to lil_brown_bat whose CD I have already received. Funky, indeed. 01 - Wang Lee Hong - Zai Mei Bian (Near The Tree) 02 - Wang Rong - Ai Ya 03 - Will Wuha - Just When I Needed You Most 04 - Liu Ruo Ying - Fen Kai Lu Xing 05 - Will Wuha - Tai Xiang Ai Ni (I Want To Love You) 06 - S.H.E. - Bo Si Mao 07 - Wang Lee Hong - I'm Lovin' It 08 - Will Wuha - Wo Bu Shi Guang Dong Hua 09 - Wang Rong - Wo Bu Shi Huang Rong 10 - S.H.E. - Super Star 11 - Wang Lee Hong - Rang Kai 12 - Twins - Track 01 13 - Jay Chou - Bu La Ge Guang Chang 14 - Wang Lee Hong - Wang Mei Da Hu Dong 15 - S.H.E. - Remember 16 - Will Wuha - Do That To Me One More Time 17 - Wang Rong - Track 2 18 - Will Wuha - X Spy 19 - S.H.E. - I.O.I.O. 20 - Zheng Yuan - Hui Xin Zhuan Yi Y'know, I heard that Taco Bell Fire Sauce packets make excellent padding. World Cup question

I brought this here with hopes that I could hear the opinions of others to help reconcile the completely opposed viewpoints Jonny and I seemed to have. As the only native speaker within 100 miles I hoped to get the insight of my SpoFi peers. After sharing our conversation I invited Jonny to join SpoFi and participate in the conversation. I in no way intended for this to come across as a catfight as Jonny and I are close friends and had a spirited conversation before agreeing to disagree. I'm glad to see him in here and hope this doesn't devolve into personal sniping in anyones direction. It may be too soon for him to talk about it objectively and as a sports fan who has tasted bitter soul-crushing defeats, ('89 Broncos, '02 Kings), I can understand. I'm just trying to better understand the differences in our philosophical view of sporting.

World Cup question

I've never found flopping, diving, ect. to be mental gamesmanship, to me it is one of the most unsportsmanlike things you could do.
I absolutely agree but as I am still learning the nuances of the game it seems that there is a certain amount of acting in order to influence the officiating. It certainly happens in the NBA. It is called bad officiating. FIFA really needs to educate the officials against it or it is part of the game and England needs to get over themselves.
Exactly. One minute people will be laughing about how their player gets touched, acts like he just got shot, and draws the foul and then the next minute they will be screaming their heads off since an opposing player did the exact same thing. Hypocrites.
Jonny is pretty adamant that Team England doesn't play that way. Denial or is he really on to something? With Rooney acting the ass it sort of makes it hard for them to credibly take the high road.

ask.spofi: Home team advantage?

Ok, so this seems like the opposite of a home court advantage; "The visiting team has the choice of baskets for the first half. The basket selected by the visiting team when it first enters onto the court shall be its basket for the first half." From Rule No. 4, Section I, part a.[pdf link]. I recall Jerry Sloan using that against the Kings when they were stuill an inexperienced playoff team. He would make them play offense in front of their bench in the second half, (not the usual), and take the coach's defensive prodding out of the game in the second half. The rule regarding uniforms is clear about the home team wearing the light color; "The home team shall wear light color jerseys, and the visitors dark jerseys. For neutral court games and doubleheaders, the second team named in the official schedule shall be regarded as the home team and shall wear the light colored jerseys." Rule No. 3, Section VI, part c. Often, exceptions to this are mentioned in the game recaps. Sorry, YYM, but, "The Kings wore their gold uniforms, one of 14 times they will go with the color scheme, including 12 times on the road. Sacramento is 3-2 in the gold." I was sort of hoping for an explanation like that for the Pistons@Heat game.
