I guess I was mostly speaking to myself when I made the above comment. I do not hardly ever post but read everyday. I need to start saying when things have really made me think or have helped me learn something new. I in no way think we should just post for the sake of posting but maybe try to post on something you learned or liked about the article. Maybe someone else will not have seen that angle of the article and will go back and read it again and thus provoking discussion. I know sometimes people have pointed out something in the article that I completely missed when I read it the first time.

I really think that we need to give more attention to the "other" threads that lbb mentioned. If we raise the bar about what we post comments on then hopefully it will overcome the whole site. You are never going to have a site where everyone is pleasant and polite and considers other peoples feelings. Get real this is life and it rarely happens in person. The more attention we give the good fpp's and the less we give the poor ones the better. on edit: I guess everyone is basically saying the same thing. The #1 rule I remember that I learned on sportsfilter - "don't feed the trolls"

It seems to be down lower now on the front page and it actually shows Blogosphere instead of page not available. Even though it says Blogosphere in the lockerroom front page it is still up and blocking text.

I have a weird box that shows the page is not available on the right side of my screen making it impossible to read any text that is on that side at the top of the page. It appears to be behind the ads by google section.

Mine says "Read Story" and I too thought I had done something wrong with my post leaving the admins to fix. Then I noticed it was in all the posts and only when you opened the thread and not on the front page.

You know what sometimes I write your instead of you're without even thinking about it. Does this mean I should be kicked off this site, I don't think so. When someone doesn't use spaces well it makes it hard to read but you can always skip it. I see nothing wrong with saying we don't want AOLesque spelling in the guidelines but come on do we not have enough trolls around right now that we have to complain about the your/you're thing? Are we serously considering banning people because they continously make non offensive grammer mistakes? I can spell check until I am blue in the face and it will never tell me when I should use your instead of you're. How many chances do I get? If I always get drunk on Friday night and post with drunken bad spelling do I get banned? I also know alot of people who would have failed an English test but can carry on one heck of a sports conversation!

I thought I had joined sportsfilter not English101filter. I understand you need to make an effort but come on people you are taking this thing too far. Maybe someone is just grammatically dumb, does that mean they don't have something to say that will actually enhance the conversation? I am not perfect and really don't expect anyone else to be either.

Well weedy we do type to each other because he is usually on in his office at the other end of the house and I am in the livingroom. If we are in the same room we usually aren't signed on. Sorry you couldn't join us. BPP came in and it was a pleasant conversation even with the cubbies getting their butts handed to them. Well there is always next week.

I guess that is where we are going to have to agree to disagree because I see them as the same. These children who come into this site to argue are doing nothing more than seeking attention. Maybe they are lonely in life (who really cares the reason) but what they seem to thrive on is the attention just like a child. Any attention will do so basically (and yes sometimes life can be that simple) ignore it or address it via email.

You know LBB I have spent many a day in my life listening to a child scream I WANT ICECREAM and still carried on a conversation. I am not saying it is pleasant and I am also not saying the child did not deserve a spanking for their behavior but giving them attention (or icecream for that matter) does not solve the problem. Ignoring the behavior and dealing with it later does. Giving in to shut them up just gives reason for them to do it the next time. So yes I think that ignoring it, sending a notice of intent to ban (spank) at a later time via email, and carrying on the conversation (even with the screaming) is the best course of action. Maybe this is just the mom in me coming out, I don't know but that is my opinion. These people have the behavior of children and need to be treated as such. I personally do not get in a public arguement with my children for one reason I do not argue with children. I completely ignore the behavior and repremand in private. Instead of telling them how it is in a public forum take it to email. This does not allow the fires to be flamed in front of everyone else and hopefully the fire will cease and an adult conversation will continue.

I have come to realize in life that it is better to ignore people who constantly think they are right. There is no winning them over - EVER! I think if we just ignore certain people and do not feed their fire than they will become unhappy here and leave. If someone calls you a poopy head just be a man and ignore it. In the end the good guys will prevail and this will continue to be a good site for all.

Thanks guys for having this site. I am not sure how complete my day would be if I didn't visit spofi. Some people here are completely aggrevating but definately good for a bloodpressure rise to make sure I am still alive. I love all that I learn and have actually had my opinions change on things I never thought I would. Gary, you were the first person I actually got into a disagreement with on this site and I throughly enjoyed it. I love all the great stats that we get on this site and have to admit I use them on my friends all the time. Thanks to all of you stat geeks for making this easy for me. Sometimes there is alot of crap to weed through and you guys sure do have your work cut out for you but you do a great job of managing this site and thanks again for doing so! *quietly goes back in corner and secretly enjoys reading the Bonds thread.

On the new helmets ......this is what was posted on Cubs.com...... It's a new "Coolflo" design by Rawlings, which six other teams -- Angels, Diamondbacks, Devil Rays, Dodgers, Mets and Orioles -- are using. They are designed to be lighter and cooler than standard helmets. The vents on the top, side and back increase air flow. Some of the Cubs said they would've liked to be able to close the vents on cold days like the home opener. They should have 2 - one for cold days and one for hot days. Seems to me it gets pretty cold in October when the Cubs will still be playing!

Florida Panthers announcer Dave Strader will call hockey. This is the only info I was able to find about the hockey announcers. They must not be very noteworthy announcers or I would think there would be more info on them.
