Fantasy Sports Now on Front Page

If I'm not logged in (i.e. seeing it from a nonmembers view) there is no link from the front page to the locker room or a search link to categories (confirmed in IE and Firefox). Yes it's still visable if you have a link or know the web address but it's a lot harder to stumble across.

I'm not saying I'm against it, just saying those are my concerns. I'm all for letting it fly and calling it a trial period.

Fantasy Sports Now on Front Page

I have two thoughts:

1.Use it to solicit members for leagues created for members of this site

But isn't the front page viewable to even non-members? So now the group ID and password for a private league meant for Sportsfilter members is now out there for public consumption.

2. The weekly CFL pick em was always at or just below the top of the locker room page. Assuming the new thread goes up on Tuesday and games don't start until Friday, it could be pushed far down the page and be overlooked causing some of us *me* to forget to make that weeks' picks.

Want to Close the Locker Room?

I think it's a double edged sword. The biggest turnout I had in a confidence pool was last year during the upgrade when a glitch or something posted it on the front page. That's cool for a confidence pool or pick'em but in the limited GM full season leagues, that could mess things up for those of us who have been in them for consecutive years. Granted, it seems that lately we've had trouble filling a full league, at least in hockey and football, but I think just updating the sidelines would be the happy medium for that.

CD Swap 2010 Re-cap

CD's have been burnt and sitting on my desk for weeks. My lame-ass excuse for not having mailed them yet: I work second shift and the post office is closed after I get off work so it's not like I can stop on my way home. I know I should just give my self a little extra time to stop on my way to work (with my local PO, that means about 45 minutes) but I can't stop myself from playing MW2 until 5:00am. My girlfriend says I have a problem, I don't believe her.

Not sure who sent it, but I received a 2-disc set (reggae and blues, I enjoy them both) from somebody, but that's all so far.

Early Predictions for the Upcoming 2009-2010 NHL Season!

Atlantic Division:
1. Pittsburgh Penguins - I don't think there will be too much of a hangover
2. New Jersey Devils - new coach, new young faces, it will probably take a couple of months for the team to click. The only line that will probably stay intact is the Parise-Zajac-Langenbrunner line. Madden (the only real loss of the offseason) will be hard to replace. Good luck, Rod Pelly.
3. Philadelphia Flyers - I think they have the potential to win the division, but as always in Philly, it will come down to goaltending.
4. New York Rangers - How they got rid of the Gomez contract is beyond me. I was hoping to keep laughing at that for years to come.
5. New York Islanders - Tank for Tavares whoever next years top draft pick is!

NorthEast Division:
1. Boston Bruins - The sooner they get the Kessel thing straightened out, the better.
2. Buffalo Sabres - Only at 2nd because they are the best of the rest.
3. Montreal Canadians - Now with more less height! With Gionta and Chara now in the same division, it should make the Bruins/Canadiens rivalry more interesting.
4. Toronto Maple Leafs - still in rebuilding mode
5. Ottawa Senators - Oh how the mighty have fallen. The sooner they get rid of Heatly, the better. Now might be a good time to start rebuilding mode.

SouthEast Division
1. Carolina Hurricanes - Edge out the Caps because of better and more stable goaltending. Did you know, out of all the current NHL goaltenders, Cam Ward is the closest to being on pace to break Patrick Roy's Brodeur's records?
2. Washington Capitals - I'm not convinced Varlemov is the real deal.
3. Florida Panthers - The best of the rest
4. Tampa Bay Lighting - realized that while offense is great, you still need some semblance of a defense.
5. Atlanta Thrashers - If you are debating whether or not Rich Peverly is your #1 center, you are in trouble.

NHL Western Conference

Central Division (aka the new Atlantic)
1. Detroit Red Wings
2. Chicago BlackHawks
3. St Louis Blues
4. Nashville Predators
5. Columbus Blue Jackets

NorthWest Division
1. Vancover Canucks
2. Minnesota Wild
3. Calgary Flames
4. Edmonton Oilers
5. Colorado Avalanche

Pacific Division
1. San Jose Sharks
2. Anaheim Ducks
3. Los Angeles Kings
4. Dallas Stars
5. Phoenix Coyotes

New Wii User: Recommend a soccer title?

Sorry, I don't have a Wii. The only next(current?)gen system that I have is PS3. I brought it up here because it was a thread about a sports video game. The kind of thread that I think we could use more of. But like I said, it was a Public Service Announcement. NHL09 will make you do things like leave work exactly at 4:30 pm even though you know that you should stay an extra couple of hours to finish a project. Or just say "F#$& it" and quit working on fixing the roof even though there's a 30% chance of rain tomorrow. Or dis all of your Burnout Paradise friends because you need 12 more hits to meet your quota in Be-A-Pro mode.

The Penguins look to be going for broke with that Hossa trade. Colby Armstrong is one one of those pesky SOB's that you hate (and I do hate him with the fire of a thousand suns) unless he's on your team, add some Esposito blood and a first round pick in this years draft, just seems like an awful lot to give up for a rental. Their offense was scary enough already, they should have beefed up their defense, and I just don't see Hal Gill as the final piece to that puzzle.
