Titans' Pacman is suspended for 2007 season

Good for Goodell and the NFL.. As stated in an earlier post, felonies shouldn't be the standard by which good/bad conduct is measured. I think excerpts from Goodell's letter to these two nailed it on the head. They truely have emabarrassed the4mselves ,other players and the league in general. The only problem I have with the punishment is the almost absolute banishment from the team's facilities. I think they should be allowed full access to their respective teams' facilities. In fact, wouldn't it actually be further punishment if Jones was required to participate in mini camp and training camp...without pay? Just a thought ,and yes, perhaps a bit harsh. But wouldn't they have a better support system if they were able to be around teammates/ friends? I think Favre nailed it on the head last year when he questioned this policy reagrding the suspension of teammate Koren Robinson.

Glittering prizes and endless compromises

Thanks Hand...I was getting worried the site had lost it's edge!

Glittering prizes and endless compromises

Finally, a light-hearted piece that no one wants to rip apart. I played a little fantasy football before the internet era. Hurried phone calls right before kickoff on Sunday, poring through USA Today on Monday and Tuesday...ahhh, the good 'ol days! With all the stats involved, fantasy baseball must have been three shades of a bitch kitty!

Incident With Daughter Could Get Ukranian Swim Coach Lifetime Ban:

Ugly? Definately! Unecessary? Of course! But it didn't appear to be the "beatdown" as described at the beginning of this post. Horribly embarrasing if you're the father or daughter.

Fox fires Steve Lyons for racially insensitive comment

One more quick note. Weedy McSmokey made a comment about Fox wanting to get rid of Lyons. Probably accurate, but certainly not the way to handle it.

Fox fires Steve Lyons for racially insensitive comment

This is a joke! Who honestly believes that Lyons actually meant this as a racial slur? If so, is it ok for Pinella to make a comment about "stealing wallets?" Isn't that as bad as Lyon's comments? Or is it ok for a member of one race to make derrogatory comments about his own race? This whole "racial sensitivity" issue, as it pertains to public broadcasting-sportscasters specifically, has been blown way out of proportion! Society can easily determine when a comment is meant to be derrogatory. Everybody who heard/ saw the broadcast knew in their heart-of-hearts that neither Pinella nor Lyons meant ANYTHING by their comments. I barely noticed the comment at all- actually just chuckled when Lyon's made his comment. We gotta lighten up in this country!

Lions' Roy Williams says "score means nothing"

In his defense (and an admittedly weak one at that) He did say they would win "if [they] did what [they're] supposed to."

Landis likely to lose title

You bunch of fucking losers...so the guy doesn't know ALL the rules and guidelines for posting. Get a life! Hey, lil_brown_bat (obviously shoved DEEP up your ass)- yeah, he is a fucking new guy. Help him out. No need to display your extreme ignorance by asking (phonetically) "what the fuck?" and stating so boldly (againg, phonetically)" fucking new guy." Not all of us were born with your natural tendancies toward geekiness. Antistar, post whatever you want. If someone doesn't like it, they don't have to read it.

UND to sue NCAA over it's name

I was always under the impression that to use a Native American- themed nickname for a sports team was to invoke/ honor the pride, honor, and warrior skills exhibited by Native Americans. Perhaps we should re-visit the use of these names. Do these tribes still exhibit these traits? Perhaps the modern tribes are right in wanting the removal of these names. It may not be an accurate portrayal of the people, indeed!

Steve Howe killed in truck accident:

As a recovering alcoholic, I feel his family's pain. Whether he was impaired or not is irrelevent. What is relevent is his struggle with addiction, his family's pain, and the early death of a good man.

Remind me not to go hunting with Dick Cheney.

Does anyone know if Texas has any sort of punishment (i.e. suspension of hunting privelages, etc.) for these sorts of incidents?

This could happen to anyone, but shouldn't...especially to the VP of the USA. Be sure of your target and beyond!

I'm a Bosox fan, but that doesn't prohibit me from recognizing one human reacting to another human. Kudos, George. The man is an animal in business, but obviously has a heart.
