New Wii User: Recommend a soccer title? As stated on the label. For the first time, a store had a Wii in stock so the Mrs. and I brought her home. Never had a game console before so I have no experience with the titles out there and wonder if I should throw down on Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 or FIFA Soccer 2008. Please note that I'm not terribly coordinated or graceful before offering advice.

What the heck is the site I am thinking of? I noticed a few extra columns in the ESPN MLB standings (DIV? WC? POFF?) and surmised, correctly, that they were showing the probability of a team winning the division, wildcard or making the playoffs in any manner. It is prompting me to ask the SpoFi collective about a site that presented such probabilities graphically. read more

Ask the Admins. Dear Admins, Let's say I want to post a new FPP, but I don't want the post title to link anywhere. Well, if you don't include a URL in the box provided, it forces your post title to be a link anyway; it just links it back to SpoFi. Is there a way around this? I'm sure that people need a post title for their newsfeeds and what not. Tharx, NoMich

Am I making sense to anyone??? I was trying to explain to my husband about a game I watched years ago, I'm guessing in '99 or '00 and involving the Pens. In this game the glass broke toward the end of a period (or maybe it was an injury) and the officials decided to add what time was left of that period to the start of the next period because there was going to be such a long delay that it would be like having two intermissions back to back. I can't find any info about this game whatsoever. I'd like to refresh my memory of the details as well as find out if there's a written rule that addresses such a thing. I'm having such a hard time finding answers that I'm starting to wonder if I'm making this up. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing?

KC Area Meet-up I was going to email all of the SpoFites that I know are in the Kansas City area, but I found that a lot of you don't have email addresses in your profile. Anyhow, Tinman and I have been tossing around the idea of a meet-up, including possibly beer, barbecue, and a Royals game. Of course, all are welcome, even you St. Louis area Mizzou fans. I know brainofdtrain and monkeyhawkare in the area. Also BoKnows is in the St. Louis area, and it's only a four hour drive. My email is in my profile if anyone is interested.

Where the hell is everybody? Giving up on the site? Eastern Orthodox? Booze 'n pills binge? Nazi orgies? Posting has been incredibly light this past week. We're not losing members are we? Maybe everybody is outside, enjoying the Spring weather, like I should be. Well, I am going to a Carolina Mudcats game this afternoon. The Montgomery Biscuits are in town. Ben Saunders's North expedition ends early "The main bolts which attach the binding of Ben's boot to the skis have sheered off and the degree of damage is beyond repair. The unprecedented, appalling conditions of the ice, coupled with Ben exerting his absolute maximum effort to achieve the speed record, have clearly impacted this crucial equipment failure. As a result, and coupled with the current ice conditions in the Arctic Ocean, Ben is unable to continue without his skis on this high speed light weight expedition." He does say that he's already preparing for his next expedition which, fingers crossed, will see SpoFi's name up on the ice somewhere on the way to the South Pole.

Online baseball quizzes Hi -- I posted the following to Ask Metafilter and one answer pointed me over here, saying they'd seen a link here that might help. Anyone remember it? The question was about online quiz material to help 7-8 year-olds learn rudimentary baseball defensive strategy. Looking to help them learn that when your're playing ____ position, and there's _____ outs, and runner(s) on ____, if the ball comes to you, you throw the ball to _____. Trying to help them have a plan before each pitch. Could be flash cards, online quizzes, or printable quizzes. Anybody remember seeing something like this around here?
