Toronto Maple Leafs win championship! .....years of playoff frustration ended for the Toronto Maple Leafs last night.

Okay, it's not those Toronto Maple Leafs, but hope springs eternal!

Hey,Tommy, maybe you are the person who can address a question I posted a couple of weeks ago. Why is it the Leafs but the plural of leaf is leaves?

The standard (common usage) plural of leaf is leaves, but leafs is an acceptable substitution. At least, that's what my dictionary tells me.

Of course you guys North of the border speak the King's English while us Yanks in the Colonies that speak American English rather Than Canadian English.Thanks,Tommy...Later.

Actually, in my American upbringing, I was always taught that both "leafs" and "leaves" are acceptable.

Actually, in my experience,Yank means 1 thing in da South and another abroad,ie Canada or Merrie Olde......

In my American upbringing, I was taught the Leafs are hosers.

Actually, in my experience,Yank means 1 thing in da South and another abroad,ie Canada or Merrie Olde...... And what about in the north, such as Michigan or South Bend?

To a non-American, a Yankee is anyone from the USA. In the USA, a Yankee is anyone from the north. To those from the north, a Yankee is anyone from New England. In New England, a Yankee is anyone from northern New England. To those of us in northern New England, a Yankee is anyone who eats pie for breakfast. (Pass the blueberry, please)

And to those who eat pie for breakfast?

....is someone who tugs firmly on your chain.

To us, here in Connecticut, a Yankee is anyone who can't hit Tampa Bay pitching worth a damn.

To us down here, a Yank is a septic.
