Clemens to miss start versus White Sox: Fatigue in right groin appears to be the issue. Hey, that's why my last girlfriend left me!

How much is this over the hill gas bag making this year? He needs to reach down and grab a handfull of his under sized;"fatigued" groin and go earn some of that ridiculous money there giving him!

AYE, MATEY!!!! Plus, he can go in with a hurt groin, further damage it, and be out for the season. BRILLIANT!

He doesn't get paid until he actually starts a game in the majors. So he's earning every penny of the $0.00 he's been paid so far. (And if you'd actually read the article you'd know this, hawkfan.) That said, if the Yankees fall 15-16 behind the Sox, I wouldn't be surprised if something else gets strained and he reluctantly decides he can't pitch this season.

So many jokes, so little time...

Clemens, who turns 45 in August, has made three minor league starts for the Yankees’ affiliates without any reported physical setbacks. But the groin, which troubled him off and on in his first five years with the Yankees, acted up during his last start, on Monday for Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. For a 45 yo coming in at this point in the season, without any formal spring training, other than his own routine. You have to expect something to start to get sore or be hurt from time to time. It doesn't sound like they'll be too long without him though, so better safe than sorry. Rest it now, so it's not a full pull or a tear later. I still wish I could write my own way like Clemens though, it is sickening. Don't get me wrong I do enjoy watching him pitch.

Well, originally Clemens was in line to pitch against the Red Sox. That was never going to happen. Then it was the White Sox in Chicago. Still kind of risky. Now on to the Pirates at Yankee stadium. I'm guessing another AA team is on the radar.

I'm guessing another AA team is on the radar. That would be appropriate; whether it will happen is another matter. I hope it does. I hope someone in the organization has the guts to tell him he's not up to snuff and make it stick.

That would be appropriate; whether it will happen is another matter. I hope it does. I just don't think the yankees need the guy. Pettitte and wang have pitched very well. Mussina has had his ups and downs but for a third pitcher he's not bad. There pitching staff is actually very similar to the red sox.

I'm a bit less sanguine about the state of Yankees pitching than you, justgary, but that's my gut and not anything terribly analytical speaking. I strongly agree that if they do need a remedy, Clemens ain't it.

I'm with lbb - I just don't think the difference between the Yankees playing .650 ball for the rest of the year, or not is a 6 inning, oft-injured 45 year old flamethrower (not with that bullpen). I know their asking for basically 4 months of 3rd Starter, but my gut tells me if Pettitte can't win the way he's been tossing, what kind of a chance does Clemens have? I think the Yankees just got old a little quicker than most anticipated.

i thought that clemons was retired and almost dead. oh thats right he does get paid enough so he has to go back and forth of retiring for extra money.
