Cindy Klassen Wins Lou Marsh Trophy as Canada's Best Athlete: In a year in which a Canadian athlete was MVP of the NBA, another was MVP of the American League, and a third was MVP of the NHL, a speedskater gets the nod as athlete of the year. The voters have a history of doing pretty well by Canada's female athletes, and by Olympic champions in general.

No offence to Nash, Morneau and Thornton, but 5 Olympic medals trumps any league trophies awarded by voting. She definitely deserved this honour.

Absolutely. All hail Steve Nash, but the Klassassin was all-time wicked last year. Well deserved. And I suppose I'm supposed to remind people that Canada kicks ass - but I think we all know that by now. I'd hate to be all pedantic.

She was a shoo-in. Congrats to her.

And I suppose I'm supposed to remind people that Canada kicks ass Yes, I hear a Canadian has won this award every. single. year. That's, like, 70 in a row or something. Congrats to Klassen. Definitely a no-brainer.

Weedy, we'll forgive a little homerism on this one. Let's face it, Canadian athletics had a VERY good year. Congrats to the neighbor to the north, and especially to the Klassen lass. She really did kick some serious booty.

Jiminy Crickets Weedy what is it with you, Canada this, Canadian that, go make my bacon and bring me a MooseHead and where the hell did I put that Medicinal Marijuana Pipe I got from the pharmacy yesterday? I forgot where I put it after taking my “medication” last night. Congrats to Cindy Klassen though! I guess this proves that beer, bacon, and bong hits can be successful as a part of the official Canadian athletes training program. ok I know the whole Canadian bacon bit is an American creation and Im not positive MooseHead beer is Canadian either but still…

No, no, no. Back bacon is very tasty and Mossehead is from the Canadian East Coast. Furthermore, hockey is great, and I don't hate the Tragically Hip.

Yeah, the backbacon thing is actually fairly legit, and I'm as fiercely proud of Anne Murray, Sloan and the Barenaked Ladies as I am ashamed of Celine Dion, Nelly Furtado and Shania whasserface. Cindy Klassen was full value for the Lou Marsh, even in a strong year like this one. I would expect very little argument from anyone in Canada about this one. Yay her. (I'd love to hear more about other countries' versions of this prize. I'm sure the UK & Australia have a similar award, but I couldn't for the life of me guess what they were.)

as I am ashamed of ... Shania whasserface. If you are talking musically, sure. If you are talking looks, you are dead to me.

Well, then, I'm dead to you. She looks like a 12-year-old boy in a fright wig.

I'd love to hear more about other countries' versions of this prize. Does the U.S. have an award like this? I can't think of an award that is given exclusively to U.S. citizens. I could just be drawing blank. She looks like a 12-year-old boy in a fright wig. These are the kinds of comments that keep me in therapy. Now everytime I look at Shania, I'm going to have a conversation in my head similar to Nuke LaLoosh's when he wore women's underwear. I saw the Barenaked Ladies for the third time Tuesday night. That is one entertaining band. And I think Mike Myers needs to be brought into this conversation. That is one funny Canadian.

Those are some interesting twelve-year-old boys you know... ;) I saw the Barenaked Ladies for the third time Tuesday night. That is one entertaining band. I went to school with Eddie Robertson, and I can tell you that he's always been funny and entertaining.
