Good News: The Sparks are staying in Los Angeles.: Bad News: Their best player is taking the year off.

I heard that the new ownership didn't know of Leslie being pregnant before the sale.

From what I gather, it wouldn't have mattered. The two principals were longtime season ticket holders, and one year of someone being pregnant shouldn't have been a dealbreaker to buy a franchise anyways. Honestly, although I have nothing against Lisa Leslie at all, even the bad news here is good news, especially since I'm a Storm fan, and anything to keep the Sparks down, edven artificially, even for one year, is fine by me.

What?!?! There is still a WNBA?? I thought the league disbanded.

pcbenedict, what a witty comment. Thank you for coming into a thread you don't care about and taking the trouble to share with us how much you don't care and aren't paying attention. Have you read the guidelines yet? You might want to.

YOU TELL 'EM, CHICO! We will not allow ANYONE to disrespect the WNBA. Those guys play their little hearts out. What's this I hear about Lyle Leslie getting some chick pregnant?

i thought she was gay. (Not that there's anything wrong with that!)

Plenty of lesbians want to have kids (and get pregnant) too, just ask Dick Cheney or David Crosby.

Remind me to go into a few college football or NBA threads and start calling the players and the fans a bunch of irrelevant morons & sexual deviants of one kind or another. pcbenedict is new here, but Desert Dog, you should know better. Fucking hell.

Please listen to chicobangs. If a member continues to crap in threads, he/she will be banned.

If you want to ban me, ban me. I was just making light of the situation. I imagine 98 per cent of people who read SportsFilter don't care about the WNBA and shouldn't comment. Like I said, I was just joking around. If anyone has read any of my comments on anything, they'll realize I like to take a humorous approach to most things. If I pissed anybody off, tough shit, I was fucking around. Chico, your'e one of the first people on this site to light into me. I respect your opinion. You should have a feeling by now that I just like to stir the pot once in awhile and don't mean to run over anybody's puppy. So if anyone thinks I should be banned, ban me. It seems everyone is just getting too sensitive.

Desert Dog, everyone's a fan of something. Don't insult people who like things you don't care about. If you don't care about a thread, don't insult people who do care, whoever they may be. Unlike you, I'm not a statistician, and I only speak for myself, not for the imagined majority behind me, but going into a thread to tell people their sport doesn't matter is fucking insulting and a big no-no. Troll away, but you've been here a while, and you should know better.

It seems everyone is just getting too sensitive. You're right, we probably have few wnba fans here, and it'll stay that way if members belittle those threads. Why would chicobangs post another thread about the wnba if members make a joke of it? Would a wnba fan who happened to come across this thread stay? It has nothing to do with being too sensitive. It has nothing to do with stirring the pot. But I'm guessing if you don't care about being banned, you don't really care about the quality of the site either.

If one person or a thousand 'belittles' a thread I post or a subject I like I'm not going to get upset and try to intimidate them. So I made a joke about the WNBA. Why would that upset anyone? I didn't attack anyone personally. It was a joke. You guys didn't think it was funny, so just move on. If I thought it was going to cause this much of a problem, I WOULD HAVE DONE IT SOONER! (once again, no offense intended to anyone). Lighten up, people.

So I made a joke about the WNBA. Why would that upset anyone? I didn't attack anyone personally. I could make a racist or sexist joke that doesn't attack anyone personally and I assure you that it would upset somebody. I've never really followed the WNBA besides glancing at the standings, but I've always rooted for Lisa Leslie. If I were a Sparks fan I'd look on the brightside, at least it doesn't look like Leslie is done for good.

but I've always rooted for Lisa Leslie You have no idea how funny that line is when heard down here. But I'm with chico on another angle - this will certainly be good news for Lauren and the Storm.

You have no idea how funny that line is when heard down here. Not a clue.

It seems everyone is just getting too sensitive. Ah, the mating call of "Jerkus Majorus". It often follows a previous statement that was deliberately made to offend someone.

Well, yeah, I'd root for Lisa Leslie in that way, too. I have every confidence that she'll come back with a vengeance after the baby's born and lead the Sparks to another league championship. Desert Dog, you need to lighten up. Everybody here likes to have a little fun now and then, but you decided to shit on somebody else's thread, which is generally (and rightly) seen as assholery. You don't like the WNBA, that's certainly your business, and I heartily encourage you to shut the hell up when a WNBA discussion rears its ugly head in your vicinity.

OK, OK, OK. I fucked up, my bad. Seriously. My apologies to everyone I offended, especially Chicobangs because it was he who posted the thread. I've been around SpoFi long enough to realize you don't do what I did. Dumb attempt at humor. Won't happen again. Assholery is a rightful term. Grum, I wasn't trying to offend anyone, just trying to be funny. Obviously, not funny. Jerkus Majorus. Your'e one intelligent guy.
