Racing with the sound turned off: Daryn Miller races at Riverhead Raceway despite being 90% deaf. Unable to discern where sound is originating from Daryn uses a system of four lights to tell him when to turn, when to caution and when to just keep driving.

I know Daryn personally and have to say he is a really mellow guy. He definitely is not one for the spot light. That is why I was so shocked when Teri Chavanne (the girlfriend in this story and coincidentally an ex of mine) told me they were running a piece on him in the Sunday edition of Newsday. In additon to being a pretty good race car driver Daryn is an excellent beer pong player and a die hard Devils fan. If any of my fellow long islanders have not been to Riverhead Raceway it is worth the trip (this coming from a staunch NASCAR hater) There is something to be said for the allure of cheap beer and school buses in a circle 8 race of doom.
