Saints baby! I've been a fan of Southampton for a decade. Was born in Portsmouth (now live in Canada), but preferred Saints. This was spurred on by the fact my Uncle and cousins, who I can't stand, were Portsmouth fans. Saints are the proverbial underdogs. Always seem to destined, for at best, midtable glory. Strachan did a good job last year, and I'm HOPING that maybe, just maybe, we might make it into Europe (even if only the Inter Toto).
Was born in Portsmouth (now live in Canada), but preferred Saints. This was spurred on by the fact my Uncle and cousins, who I can't stand, were Portsmouth fans. Still utter heresy, though. (A good mate at Oxford was the most atypical Eton boy you could imagine, and a Pompey fan.) And 0-0 today against your boys will do us fine. Anyway, the more depressing aspect to the big kickoff is that, once again, Sky has devalued Saturday, by ensuring that the 'glamour ties' are on Sunday and Monday.
I should think you were lucky to get out of Portsmouth alive.
hehehe Portsmouth suck. I can say that. Why? I was born in the hospital right next to Fratton Park:) When they made it to the (then) First Division, everyone was ecstatic, to which I said "enjoy it. You're going down next season". And they did. I laughed:) Saints are the boys!
What do you mean, the glamour ties were on Sunday and Monday? My lot, your lot and Drood's lot were in action on Saturday. Only Fat Buddha's team had to wait a day for their ritual embarrassment. ;-) This is going to be a long season when you expect to get relegated, but I intend to enjoy it come what may.
At the risk of alienating my girlfriend, I am going to try to get back into Premier League soccer (I can't stand any other kind), assuming I can find a decent schedule on Fox's site.
