New York Rangers add Adam Hall : Dominic Moore is now a Pittsburgh Penguin while Adam Hall is a New York Ranger after a three-team trade Wednesday saw the Nashville Predators pick up a draft choice and send Moore to Pittsburgh. The Blueshirts sure are having an active off season but is it enough to keep up with the Best of the East?

Ranger President/GM Glen Sather hasn't had any trouble pulling the trigger adding missing pieces that are sure to help take some pressure off Jagr. I'm sure fans are going to see the Moore for Hall trade as an even push but IMHO the Rangers definitely got the better player that can add some much needed hustle. Matt Cullen, Brendan Shanahan and now Adam Hall along with the signings of Karel Rachunek and Colton Orr I'd say he's making excellent headway in positioning the Rangers for a deep playoff run come 2007. If I was Jagr I'd be very pleased. As an aside it looks like the Ranger Rookies will be be attending the Red Wings Rookie Camp Sept. 8-12 at Centre Ice in Traverse City, MI. Also scheduled to attend are Rookies from Detroit, Atlanta, Columbus, Minnesota, Tampa Bay, Dallas and St. Louis. I'm heading up for that and will try to keep everyone posted on the Rookie happenings. In the past the Rookie Camp has been an excellent first peak at some of the incoming NHL talent.

I don't know anything about Pivko, but Hall is a good player. The Preds seem like they kind of screwed themselves by giving away both of these guys for a single 3rd round draft pick. Maybe I missed something.

Pivko was a 2006 AHL All-Star for the Milwaukee Admirals. I saw plenty of him in the AHL playoffs (Admirals knocked my Griffins out) and in regular season play. He's a capable scorer and twice last season had 5 game scoring streaks. He's a pesky left winger with a nose for the puck. I totally agree and I'm scratching my head over this move by Nashville.

Damn you, Shanny, damn you! Keep us posted on that Rookie Camp, sdd. If I have some free time, maybe I could shoot up there, too.

Now all New York needs to do is get rid of Rick and get a new number one goalie

I've been quite pleased with the Rangers offseason so far. I know some will look at the Shanahan signing and think that Sather is up to his old tricks again, signing a veteran after his best days are past him. But Shanahan got a one year deal so he's really a bridge to the future at this point rather than a last-ditch effort at glory. Cullen seems like a valuable role player. And while I liked Dominic Moore, I think we know where his ceiling is and he's just about reached it... He's a hard-working, penalty-killing center who went to Harvard. Oh, and he constantly gets thrown out of the face-off circle. If they kept such stats he'd be the league-leader, I'm sure of it. I don't know much about Adam Hall, but I know enough to say that I like this trade. It doesn't win the Rangers the Cup or anything, but coupled with all of the other moves it proves that Sather is sticking with the re-build and trying to get better within the structure of the Master Plan.

sirtt22, I suspect Henrik Lundqvist is going to get all the space he needs to expand on last year. (Unless you meant the New York Islanders & Rick DiPietro. And even that's not a good move. He's the only stable link in that chain.)
