For the next three weeks: (and two days) I give a crap about what happens in France. ESPN with a breakdown of the favorites to win now that Lance is gone. Persoanlly, I'm rooting for Basso.

Man, cycling just sucks. I mean, there's just all this riding around in straight lines, and no action, and no scoring, and I know the world loves it but...I don't get it, so therefore I mock it because it must be useless. /snark oops, I thought this was another WC bashing thread for a minute. hahaha. I'm almost more excited about the Tour now that there's no Lance - don't get me wrong, I loved watching him win but now I can't wait to see who steps up now that he's gone. Basso will be fun to watch, as will Ulrich, and if either one wins I'll be happy.

The Tour resumes without Lance (finally). Here in America fans think he's the greatest but he never won anything else. Aquetil,Hinault,Indurain and especially the incomperable Eddie Merckx won dozens of other big races in their Tour winning years, such as the Giro d'Italia. Perhaps Lance's great contribution to cycling will be that he changed the sport by concentrating on Le Grande Boucle.

My only wish was that this sport got the kind of television coverage that others do. The World Cup is/was being broadcast on three different channels every day here at home ... impossible to miss when flipping by. Every year, despite my desire to follow the Tour closely, the TV scheduling always eludes me. The 'net helps, but I'd just like more coverage via the mainstream sports media. Being the first post-Lance Tour, there are definitely a lot of names that could be at the top when they hit Paris. Should make for an incredibly interesting Tour.

I feel sorry for the winner cause people are gonna say "Youre Lucky Lance Wasnt racing" or similar Stuff or they might say "Well youre still not good cause you didnt win 7 straight Tour de France"

The list of people barred from this year's Tour reads like a Who's Who of cycling. My goodness.
