Ex-girlfriend accuses Tigers' Young of choking her: Detroit Tigers designated hitter Dmitri Young was charged with domestic violence after his former girlfriend accused him of choking her, the Detroit Free Press reported Thursday.

Oh,I almost forgot, Dmitri plays for the Tigers, the only sports team they have up there are the Pistons.

Wingnut4life, I appreciate the post. I believe these type of posts remind us that players from all sports should not just be thought of by how they handle themselves on the field. And if people don't need a reminder lets talk about why not. When players embarass themselves, the game and the fans we should talk about it. I think they should put mini rap sheets/major controversies on the backs of trading cards. Then when people are like man he great player... like yeah when he wasn't beatin hir girl or cheating on her, or maybe eating roids, or punching people, or getting busted with drugs . . .

Sorry about the post, but I just found it very interesting. Dimitri has been floundering all season long, and I've been wondering what the hell was going on. He's been on and off of the DL, and his batting average is in the cellar.

Sports Icon? What has he done for the Tigers, or any team he has played for? Calling him a sports icon is like comparing Darko to Shaq.

At this point I think I have to disagree Tsport. In my short time here at Spofi, (5 months) I find myself growing tired of reading articles about pro athletes breaking all kinds of laws, followed by a bunch of comments about how spoiled, overpaid, and lucky they are to get to play a game for a living. I even found myself posting such an article about Porter and his mouth going to the Whitehouse only to regret having done so 15 minutes later (thanks everett). Why is this anymore news than the 10yr old girl in Pensacola taking the keys to an SUV and going on a joyride with a 5yr old and infant in the vehicle. I guess I just think we as a society attempt to hold these athletes up to a superhuman standard that we ourselves could not obtain. That said I am aware that I can choose not to read all the articles and following comments. And will try to avoid some of them in the future. This place is so addictive though and I hate to think I might miss some diamond in the rough.

Tsport, what the hell has happened to you man? Are you a victim of abuse or neglect or something? I'm asking that in the most serious manner. Something has given you a God complex. Why are you so judgmental when it comes to others mistakes? I think they should put mini rap sheets/major controversies on the backs of trading cards For 10 year olds to read? Man your time is going to come and you're going to wish you didn't judge so harshly. Think of passing judgment on people as if you're hitting them with a hammer and chisel. All you can do is make them bleed. Take that same hammer and chisel and chip away your own imperfections first. That way you will know what it feels like when you're chipping away at someone elses. Hopefully this will help you gauge your swing in the future.

Wow... this guy is having a TERRIBLE season. I was wondering why you never hear anything about this guy... now I know. He makes $8 mil this year, and is batting sub- .200. Thats BAD. Not to mention Delmons incidient. This dosent look like a very good year for Dimitri. Last year the Sausage, now this.
