"Lucky" Luc Robitaille retires: and leaves a quiet 10th on the all-time goals list.

Hockey:Baseball::Robitaille:Molitor (but without the drug history) A Hall of Fame player, but not one that immediately leaps to mind when you ask "Who are the best players of the past 20 years?" Also, made a name for himself in one city (Los Angeles:Milwaukee), but won his championship in another (Detroit:Toronto). Robitaille and Hull being inducted in the same year will be a nice contrast: steady, consistant, mild-mannered vs flashy, mercurial, out-spoken.

It's weird that the nine people ahead of him on the scoring list are all centres or right-wingers. Left wing gets no love, I guess.

The last Lucky Luc thread brought up this topic. Lots of goods answers from the spofi collective.

Too bad he couldn't have been on a Kings team that won the Cup. At least he got to win one in Detroit (damn Red Wings). I'm a Kings fan and I will miss watching him play. Class act. Later, Luc-and thanks! Next stop, Hall of Fame.

Would anyone look at me differently for pointing out that Luc is a good looking 40. I'm just saying.

He is an attractive man, hater. (Send pics of naked men to dingdong2006@yahoo.com and I'll share mine). Har har. I've always been a big fan of Luc - He and Dino Ciccarelli need to open up a restaurant together and call it "Two Guys Who Can't Skate With 1300 Goals".

Weedy, your'e just joking, aren't you??

At least he got to win one in Detroit (damn Red Wings). Luc would not touch or even get close to The Cup before he won it with the Red Wings. That was just his little superstition. The look on his face when he finally did hoist the Cup was priceless.

It seems I can't make up my mind about which HOF baseball player is most like Robitaille! Is it Murray? Is it Molitor? I just don't know!

Damn wingnut, I don't know whether to thank you for the pic of Luc and the Cup or curse you for the pic of Luc and the Cup and that Satanic jersey he's wearing. I'll say it again. Damn Red Wings.

Luc has been my favorite player ever since his rookie season back in 1986. He always came across as one of the classiest guys to ever play the game and the NHL will definitely miss someone like him. I'm very grateful that I was able to see so many of his games in person and I will be in San Jose at the final game of his incredible career that will end with his induction in the Hall of Fame. Thank you Luc for everything you gave us through the years.

Apparently someone on this board wants to overlook the fact that Greg Maddux used to team up with Luc when Greg wanted to lure French prostitutes back to his torture dungeon by the dockyards and needed someone to smooth talk them in their native tongue.

Luc is a pretty select company I would never think to group him. 600+ goals is still an unbelievable milestone. As more players reach these scoring milestones will the importance of 500 goals be diminished? Three active players are pretty much assured 600 career goals (Jagr will probably net 700) and 8 or 9 active players will hit 500. During the defense-first decade (95-05) it seemed like 300 hundred goals would be the new 500 goals. With the more wide open play will new scoring milesones be establishd? Will 600 goals be the new 500?

When Charles Manson has nightmares, he sees Luc Robitaille and Greg Maddux. The horror, the horror...
