The biggest loser in the history of sports: Red Klotz, the coach of the Washington Generals.

Apologies to the hard-core sports fans out there, but this is the kind of story I enjoy. After reading this article, it occured to me that the Red Klotz story would make an entertaining movie. The guy on the losing end of the Globetrotter stick if you will. I think a lot of folks might not admit it but their first sporting event that they ever attended (like me when I was 5 yrs old) was a Globetrotters game. Good stuff.

He might be the biggest loser in one way but probably the biggest winner in so many more.

THX: I could totally see a climactic moment in the film when Klotz hits the game-winner at the buzzer and the crowd boos him unmercifully for 15 minutes. Kind of an anti-Hollywood ending. Great story, kirkaracha. To be honest, I never realized the Generals were ever really trying to win the game. I really thought the games were scripted -- there were so many gimmicks and game-breaks in the Meadowlark Lemon/Curly Neal era.

the Washington Generals were "stagehands" for the G'Trotters just like the eternal bozo losers on WWF. My vote would go to the Bsox Buckner.

One of the best "sports" stories I have ever read. Heckuva guy. Maybe if they spent some money in free-agency....hmmm....

ISTR an episode of the Simpsons where Krusty the Clown, who had a gambling problem, bet on the Generals because "they were due!" Classic.

Globetrotters vs. Washington Generals. This sure brings back good old memories. I remember my father taking my brother and I to the Oakland Arena to see Goose Tatum and the Generals play. And as someone wrote , it looked like it was scripted. But who cared, it was pure good clean fun. Good stuff!

I'm confused, I thought A-Rod is the biggest loser in the history of sports.

Grrrlacher ! err! whitethunder, there's a remarkble resemblance to one of the General's player from the 50's. Did your father or a relative play for them also?

Grrrlacher, the next time A-Rod is in a meaningful fantasy game I'll use his statistics!
