Steve Francis. Knick?: GM Thomas trades the expiring contract of Penny Hardaway and SF Trevor Ariza to the Orlando Magic for Steve Francis.

This Penny Hardaway used to be a basketball player, eh? Meh. The Chris Webber connection really puts perspective on a disappointing career that began so well. The Knicks are absolutely trying to go Yankees with their bloated payroll only, y'know, without the bother of actually winning games. Good for the Magic who put themselves into a great salary cap position in 2007 when some pretty coveted free agents will be available. Sort of the opposite of the Knicks.

Does Isiah even know that there's a salary cap in the NBA? I really don't get it. This season's down the drain.. why bring in Francis now? I get the impression that it's more important to Isiah to have stars on the team to get the fans watching rather than to have a team that actually produces wins. I can't imagine Larry Brown sticking around after this season.. Can't wait to read the sports guy's reaction to this. It's almost too easy..

The deal will pair Francis with Stephon Marbury as the highest-paid backcourt duo in the NBA. Why does my Spidey-sense tell me this is not a good thing? Knicks are 15-37 and does this change really mean better results are coming soon?

I think the people running the Knicks have completely lost ther freaking minds. Do they realize they have practicly destroyed the entire season and spent the most money out of the entire NBA? I just don't get it. Let's spend a whole lot of money to people that will never win a game. In fact why don't they just give them raises if they lose every game for the rest of their contracts and then sign them back on for 20 more years just so there is no chance the team will ever win a game again.

i swear a 13 year old kid can run the entire knicks organization better than the people currently there now

Is there any nickname in pro sports less appropriate than "Stevie Franchise?"

Starbury must have been developing blisters from having the ball so much. Francis seems like a good solution to that problem.

Is there any nickname in pro sports less appropriate than "Stevie Franchise?" How about "Zeke" because I have no idea what it means, and he might be ruining the Knicks. It's just gotten plain confusing what he's doing, so I have to give him the "probably".

This has disaster written all over it. The Magic get yet another shoot first pass second guard ( to add to Marbury, Rose, Robinson, and Crawford). And trade away an expiring contract so they can add a contract that runs 16 mil per year for the next 3 years. This can only hurt the development of the younger core of the Knicks (Frye, Lee, Curry, Butler), as part of the reason is being traded is because he has a penchant for blowing up at developing big men (see Ming and Howard). The Magic on the other hand clear the decks to throw money at real franchise player Dwight Howard, and get a nice energy guy in Ariza. I give Isiah till the end of this season, maybe up until next all-star break if hes lucky.

Is there any nickname in pro sports less appropriate than "Stevie Franchise?" Yeah, you'd think a grown man would start going by just "Steve" after a while.

"I am Ozymandius, King of Kings. Look upon my works, ye Mighty, and Despair!" Oh yeah? Well, I am Isiah, Destroyer of Franchises. Look upon my works, ye Season Ticket Holders and Fans, and Despair!

This team has like no direction- the trade deadline has passed, and the Kincks have way too many guards. They should have gotten Ratliff for Crawford, NEVER gottne Rose, and would have had a future all-star in N. Robinson to back up "Starbury" and "Franchise". But now..... Robinson isnt even active, the Knicks are one of the smallest teams in the NBA- and Curry and Frye are going to get killed in the paint with those two ballhogs. Unless the y get a rebound- dont expect to see any balls headed down their way. Francis wasnt even necesary- theye should have tried to land a big ticket player after this dismal season.
