Hidden: Pete Rose's Ballot Eligibility Expires : At least Pete can console himself with all that money he made betting on his own team. Unless he spends it all on his kid's defense fund.

*Yawn* Pete Rose, let's talk about Donnie Baseball getting snubbed over and over again. I think it his year this year, I really do.

In other hall of fame news Black Sabbath was inducted into the Rock and Roll hall fame along with the Sex Pistols and Blondie and some crappy southern rock band who's name I cannot pronounce.

some crappy southern rock band who's name I cannot pronounce. The Van Zant family has far too many ghosts for you to be dogging out Lynyrd Skynyrd, boy. FREEEEEEBIIIIRRRRD!

Speaking of ballot elegibility some guys who should never get it... Mark McGwire Jose Canseco Barry Bonds Rafael Palmerio and two who are iffy... Sammy Sosa Albert Belle

Really, cuz most of the roider-if-I-say-so crowd would put Sosa down in ink on the HoF blacklist. Which highlights the reason why real court systems require evidence before convicting someone.

Big Mattingly fan here....same career numbers as Kirby Puckett. Kirby gets in 1st year eligible. People tell me its because he was on a world series team with the Twins. Big Fu**ing deal! It's not the World Series Hall of Fame, it's the Baseball Hall of Fame and it deserves to be adorned with Donnie Baseball's gold profile!!! I agree with hater 187!

Speaking of ballot elegibility some guys who should never get it...Bonds If Bonds breaks Hank's record (or even if he doesn't) can you imagine the HOF controversy. I guess we'll get a small taste when McGwire is eligible but it will be nothing compared to Bonds.

but it will be nothing compared to Bonds. Yeah, I actually would kind of like that to happen just to see what will be done and reactions of players and people alike.

Well, you can pretty much guarantee that all of those players mentioned above will be eligible for the baseball hall of fame. They haven't done anything yet that would disqualify them from being on the ballot. Only Palmeiro has broken any rules (according to baseball), and there was nothing in the collective bargaining agreement that says that he would be made ineligible for the hall of fame. As well, the commissioner of baseball has made no announcement stating that Palmeiro would be declared ineligible for nomination. Whether they get elected to the hall of fame is strictly the province of the baseball writers themselves.

grum speaks truth. And Selig already has his example. He won't be as hard on anyone else as he has been with Rose. That would require a level of initiative, purpose and spine that he frankly doesn't have. Unless Bonds or McGwire actually get caught in this dragnet, and neither one has been yet, there's no reason for them to not be on the ballot, and while it would cost them some votes, both could very easily make it in. McGwire would probably still have my vote, and Bonds is a lock, far as I care.
