Griffey is back! Should he be traded?: Interesting link that fuels the never ending Griffey to the White Sox stories. I personally tink theat JR will wind up in Pinstripes(yankees) before all is said and done. This will happen, in my opinion. during the off season not now.

JR has been one of the bright spots this season!

His contract is so complicated, I don't think anyone would want him. Even though the Yankees need a centerfielder, I think they can find someone who is cheaper on the wallet. By the way, JR hit number 30 today.

Griffey has said in the past he would never play for King George because of the way they treated his father when he played for the Yanks .

evil, i could be wrong, but i believe junior's beef was how he was treated when his father was a yankee. there was (and maybe still is?) a policy about kids hanging out in the clubhouse or dugout or something like that. i guess junior held a grudge. however, i have a feeling he may not a little more receptive to the idea now. i don't know if they will go after him in the off-season. if they do they would probably want the reds to eat a good chunk of his contract. i have heard that they would like to have kevin thompson eventually step-up to the majors at some point next season. but they will still need to get someone in the interim, especially if thompson can't handle it.

I took a flier on Griffey in the lower rounds of my fantasy draft on the assumption that I'd only get about a half-season from him before the inevitable snap of the achilles, tear of the hamstring, etc. Needless to say, he's been a boon to my team. On the trade rumors front, Griffey lives in Florida in the off-season and has publicly stated he would be loathe to accept a trade to a team that has spring training in Arizona (e.g., the White Sox) -- for what it's worth. Now the Yankees, on the other hand...

Forget Jr. Andreu Jones should be aquired by the Yanks.

Carl Lidner cares too much about how Cincinnatians view him to ever trade Junior (or Casey).

yes griffey should be traded to a team that has a chance of winning. I would really like to see him win a ring before he leaves the sport after all he has did for baseball.

The Reds NEED pitching. They also need to dump JRs contract. Seems like a no brainer to me- Dunn hits enough homers for the reds to get by down the stretch. JR seems like hes due for another season ending injuryt anyway...

i read that its up to JR if he would be willing to accept the trade. Even if this is true the white sox should try to get him. they need another bat to lift them out of this hitting slup. and they are contenders.

Contenders for what???

I'd doubt any contender would give up pitching to get an oft-injured outfielder no matter what kind of season he had . If he went to either Yanks or White Sox i'd see him in a dh role even though Yanks need a center fielder . I know Yanks have no pitching prospects to give , I'd think Chicago would be in better shape to acquire him .

Andruw Jones isn't going anywhere. Even though he can hit in Yankee stadium. They can have Rafael Furcal if they want him.

Why is this place full of haters. People, this is Griffey Jr. we're talkin' about here. How many people in here are from Cincinnati. Griffey does great things for this city and this team. He is a leader and a hell of a player. The Red's won't get rid of him and if they did he would probably go to the American League and DH.

And we all know how baseball front offices make decisions based solely on their beneficial effect on the community, right?

And how success level correlates with Good Guy awards per clubhouse.
