Huggins Given Ultimatum: Resign or be fired!

I heard on talk radio this afternoon that the university would give him $3 mil if he resigned before tomorrow and only $2 mil if they have to fire him.

Thanks for getting us in the Big East, now get out. No money from this alum anytime soon.

Maybe Cincy could lure Jerry Tarkanian out of retirement (been done before...)

Poor Nick, now what is he going to do????

Mick, would you really withhold money to your alma mater because it refused to continue employing a basketball coach, especially one with a history of NCAA violations and a recent drunk-driving conviction?

Well, I guess if you want to change the national perception of UC basketball, you've got to get rid of Huggins. He's so intrenched I didn't think she'd have the stones to do it. Here in Cincinnati, I think many (myself included) have overlooked/forgotten about the sheer volume of off-court incidents involving his players (Little torturing his roommate, Wingfield assaulting cops, et cetera) until reading about them in various articles over the last 12 hours or so. As a side note, from this column on ESPN "There are coaches who aren't tied to a school who are available such as... former Virginia coach Pete Gillen"(Gillen also being the former Xavier coach that refused to shake Huggins' hand after a Crosstown Shootout). That would be quite a FU to Huggins to replace him with Gillen.

If he resigned, he'd get $# mil. and could serve the U. in another capacity, unrelated to hoops, until his retirement, of which he would get all benefits. OR He would be fired for $2 mil. The thing that has Bearcat fans, such as my self, riffed, is the whole handling of the situation. Our big name supporters are pulling out.

I heard on talk radio this afternoon that the university would give him $3 mil if he resigned before tomorrow and only $2 mil if they have to fire him. They also said on sports center last night something about keeping him in the education system until 2007 or 2008. I think it was for retirement purposes, but he only had until this afternoon to make up his mind. Looks like he got railroaded. At least it was the money train they hit him with!!!

Ugh. I can't take it. Please, only one lachey link per thread. (See tieguy's earlier comment.) There, I feel better.

Crap, I looked right past that, which is the same thing I'm doing with the article. I can't get past the second line.

Wow, that's a hell of a rant from the Nickmonster. I'm kind of impressed.
