And finally, a story about an offensive lineman: Geir Gudmundsen, the 6-5, 310-pound artist, NCAA Division I-AA All-American and sometime security guard, is trying to make his brash prediction of two years ago to Giants coach Jim McNally come true -- "Someday I'll be playing for you."

The Rudy comparison is pretty silly. Plenty of non-Div. I players are in the NFL--Jerry Rice, who I'd put in the Top 10 all time, played for Mississippi Valley State--so this smells like slow news day crap to me.

The Rudy comparison is absurd, but players not from I-A schools aren't exactly a big part of the NFL. Besides, how many of them have walked up and told a position coach they'd be playing for them one day and then have a shot to make that actually come true?

Again, I'm not dissing the FPP. Good story, nice to see some positive threads. Bringing the Rudy for every small time athlete made good makes the gorge rise in my throat though.
