John Riggins Off-Broadway: I can't say I was expecting this.

Riggins's stage presence is near-mythic ... that playoff game ... Gibbs took him out in the fourth quarter to a standing ovation. Covered with mud and grass stains, he stopped halfway to the sideline. "Helmet in hand, he bowed in all four directions," recalls Gibbs brings up excellent memories, kirkaracha, thanks. the acting is somewhat odd. but the stage presence is not surprising. riggins is one of the most entertaining personalities in washington sports media rite now. this season there were lots of flip-flops among reporters about the job marty schottenheimer was doing. his grade went from putrid to glowing to --in the end-- palatable. but all season riggins was steady in his analysis of schottenheimer . dead-on skepticism pebbled with fun comparisons to the glory days and beautiful cuts of sarcasm. oh, and drinking stories.

Good article. I just can't imagine John Riggins as an actor, but I wish him luck and a longer acting career than most ex-players have had.

brings up excellent memories Actually, the article reminded me that Riggo took a bow after getting 185 yards rushing aginst my beloved Minnesota Vikings. Although I've noticed recently that whenever they show running back highlights, it's usually of them running like a hot knife through the soft butter that is the Vikings defense. But Riggins was a great running back and ("loosen up, Sandy baby") quite a character.

I live literally around the corner from this theater. I'm thinking of going this weekend, just to check it out. I can't see him sucking, really. He does have that charisma.
