You Eagles get off my legacy or I'll call the cops!: Legendary Eagle tough guy turned curmudgeon Chuck Bednarik, best known for knocking off Frank Gifford's block in a 1960 NFL game, isn't rooting for his former squad this weekend. Bednarik also thinks Deion Sanders couldn't tackle his wife.

This guy obviously has a problem with losing what little fame he still has. Being a member of the last Philadelphia team to win a championship in the NFL affords Bednarik some status. Should the Eagles win Sunday, that goes right out the window. Another thing that sticks in Bednarik's craw are the salaries today's players are making. While it is too bad that Bednarik and his contemporaries didn't receive the money they deserved, that argument is ancient history. Those of us old enough to remember seeing (or reading about) Bednarik being a 2 way player realize how special a feat it was and congratulate him, but it's time he act his age and stop his whining.

It should be noted that Chuck Bednarik's wife is in fact Michael Vick. (They tied the knot in Berkeley last year.) So the Deion Sanders crack isn't quite as insulting as it first sounds.

Chuck has the nerve to call the modern day players self centered??

Interesting that a libertarian would want the owner of the team to subsidize his writing career by buying a bunch of his books and then has the nerve to get pissed off about it. Whatever happened to the free market?

Its too bad Chuck is hurting his football legacy with stubborn, self-centered comments and feelings.

I heard Bednarik doing a local sports show during Super Bowl week. You could throw a dozen different topics at him -- in and out of sports -- and he'd respond with a dozen overheated, negative opinions. He's the real-life version of the Airplane! sourpuss: "they bought their tickets; they knew what they were getting into; I say let them crash."

How sad and sorry his life must be, to let that much bitterness ruin his legacy. He's an a-hole, yes, but a pathetic one.
