Andrew Johnson Will Play For Poland! : His grandfather was born in Poland and apparently he is very proud of his Polish Heritage. Should be interesting to see how this develops. Polish scouts were at his game at Birmingham and Pawel Janas is considering calling him up for the friendly against France.

THE Pawel Janas.... Good lord, i really should proofread. Can anyone fix that?

He'll probably just get impeached immediately.

Andrew Johnson will be a Polish delight. I mean, I don't know if he's a kewl-bassa of the ball but he looks like he'll pierogi score a few. Ba-dum-bum. Ching!

SF, there was a president of your country with the same name and he was impeached by the House of Representatives. Read a friggin' history book, okay?

Bah, Andy Johnson is this season's James Beattie, or the previous season's Kevin Phillips - he seems amazingly good right at this moment, but he'll turn rubbish again pretty quickly, like he used to be when he used to play for the Blues.

Yeah...could be. He is extremely fast though. I have watched a few games with him now and i am impressed. However, i do wonder if he can keep up the pace even as much as Beattie did 2 seasons ago. As far as being called up for Poland, he doesn't seem to be interested in an England call up at all does he? It would be strange to see a lineup looking something like this: Dudek Bak Kosowski Zurawski Kaluzny JOHNSON Frankowski etc, etc...

Inaccurate headline.. The headline here on sportsfilter says he WILL play for Poland. The linked article only says that he's CONSIDERING playing for Poland.

posted by blarp at 11:56 AM on November 05, 2004

Well there was another article i didn't link where he said he would be honored to play for Poland or something like that...

posted by StarFucker at 12:05 PM on November 05, 2004

He's 23 already, i think if he was ever going to get called in to England he would at least have already been in some friendlies. Poland is probably his better shot, there are too many strikers ahead of him and coming up younger ones too.

Complete and utter bollocks. What do you expect him to say to the Poles? That they should stick it up their arse? He's simply keeping his options open. I'm not sure where you're getting the conclusion that he "doesn't seem to be interested in an England call up" either. He played for the England Youth team, which was the only one he was called up to. Here's a link where he (not his agent like your article) says "it's everyone's dream to play for their country". Hint, he's talking about England there, not Poland. The reason he hasn't played in friendlies so far is that he was shite until last season in the 1st Division and the start of this season. No England manager in his right mind would have picked him while he was playing for Birmingham as he was pants. And how many 1st Division players have played up front in England friendlies?

Well, he was good enough to score against Birmingham ...

What is bollocks squealy is that Poland didn't come looking for him, it was Johnson that looked for Poland.

Err, neither of those links says any such thing SF. One things for certain. He'll never play for the US fucking A. Yes wc2002, he's good enough to score against us now. Believe me, he couldn't score in a brothel when he played for us. If only we'd had Dowie rather than Francis as manager. After your election, I'm beginning to think some of you Yanks are hard of understanding.

Oh ps. I hope he gets Henry's shirt. I always had a huge amount of time for AJ when he was with us. He may have flattered to deceive, but you could never fault the lad for effort.

Err, its true the articles didn't say that... So i guess after the election some of you Brits are hard of putting 2 and 2 together... Do you think the Polish delegation went around asking what English players have Polish heritage? Just askin'...

....and making five. Yep, that's what international teams do nowadays. Especially ones as shite as Poland. Do try to keep up old chap.

Its a shame you can't keep up an intelligent discourse.

It is, isn't it? 0-1 to the Champions.
