Chuck Finley walks onto field; White Sox employee notices, plays song from Whitesnake; has ass thrown onto sidewalk.
Firing the guy was not necessary, it was during BP not the actual game. Demoting him or keeping him away from the cd player would have been more reasonable punishment. First the Cubs put up tarps for "security reasons" and now this. You wonder why the Cubs and Sox are viewed as bush league operations.

the "security purposes" was merely politicese (not that i blame the cubs -- in this case, i think they're right to fight the property owners). i think embarassing a pitcher in front of several thousand fans is pretty low class, and -- like i said -- good riddance. i think the idea of the cubs or the sox are bush league is many years outdated.

of course, they should have fired him! He's filed for divorce, his wife was sent to jail for domestic battery and that jerk tries to squeeze out a cheap laugh by ridiculing him. There's not one thing about it that's fun or amusing.

I'm all for a good joke, but I think divorce and domestic abuse are just a wee bit off limits, especially when it takes place in public. Good riddance, indeed.

somewhere, there's someone in a supervisory position who thought it was funny until they found out it wasn't. at that point, someone below had to be canned. rule #1: win the press conference.

If you really don't want to have your divorce and domestic abuse to be discussed publicly, please don't accept a multi-million dollar contract and marry someone famous. I certainly didn't nominate them to be public figures. Moz, I think maybe you should start a letter-writing campaign. After all, every late night comedian made more than enough O.J. jokes. Off you go to your crusades to protect the pampered and overpaid, my man.
