Jose, go home!: Former A's slugger Jose Canseco was told by the Los Angeles Dodgers his services would not be required after he worked out at an open tryout. Canseco, who is 39 and is 38 home runs short of the magical 500-dong plateau, said folks could "see him in the movies," a reference to a supposed acting career. Does this former Bash Brother deserve any consideration for the Hall, or should he go back to smashing up expensive sports cars and taking steroids?

Damn it, the title should have been: Jose, can't you see? Your career's all washed up! sing it, baby!

Jose shouldn't be in the HOF. Before he even got to camp, the Dodgers were smart enough to say you will most likely, 99% most likely, to not get signed. Plus, his book is going to flop like Rose's.

I thought he was on house arrest, but apparently not. But isn't he still wearing that tracking thing on his ankle?

If I never hear about Jose Canseco again, that'd be okay.

the magical 500-dong plateau You know, I'm pretty sure I'm never going to hit that plateau, either...

My cousin was a huge A's fan circa 1987-1990, the Bash Brothers era. Canseco was one of the best in the game at that time -- but he vaporlocked so many times, he was never able to maintain consistent production. Million dollar talent, five cent head that cost him a Hall of Fame career.

He's going to be an actor now, rocketman. I'd guess if you avoid any future B movie buddy film/murder mystery/sensual drama starring Richard Grieco and Kari Wuehrer, you'll miss Canseco's career altogether.

We he to ever get on a club and get that sacred homerun #500, he'd simply become the first ever player in that club to not make the HOF. He was good for awhile early on, one of the best...but that was a loooong time ago.

I just re-watched this gem from Roddy Piper the other day ... have we done "Are wrestlers athletes?" yet? Cuz watching Rowdy trying to run in action scenes is possibly the funniest thing ever.

Oh man ... you can't mention Rowdy without a little tweak of his greatest cinematic achievement ever.

Wow. Sy Richardson was in that too.
