Norris candidate out with broken leg.: Pegged as cup favorites in the pre-season, the Avalanche have battled big-name injuries to their forward corps all season to remain a top team in the highly competitive Western Conference and NW division. Blake's on-ice prescence and point production are irreplaceable, and now larger responsibility will fall on their youthful defenders and the leadership of Adam Foote.

In other things hockey, the post All-Star break rants rave on, and the below excerpt touches on all the 'hot' topics: You only get the “visors are fine, but only if you’re a communist, sissy-fied rube who still thinks O.J. was innocent” argument

More All Star players announced the end (basically) of their seasons, with Hasek's groin telling him it won't heal in the next 3 months, and Scott Stevens taking things slow with his post-concussion fogginess.

Throw in Hackett retiring, and there are a lot of hockey pools in absolute shambles right now...

Even though it is a good thing for hockey to have Rob Blake at the all-star game; if he had a sore leg why did he wait til after the break to get it checked out? The trainers on the avalanche need to have their heads examined.

Every time Thorne and Clement called Blake this season's probable Norris winner, I'd mutter, "if he doesn't get hurt." Maybe I jinxed him...

Hey! Did you hear that Souray had to leave the game with an injury too? At this rate (Jovanovski, Blake, Souray, Stevens, MacInnis) the Norris Trophy is going to go to some player by default.

Maybe Aucion or Chara get the nod this year. Who else is having a Norris year and doesn't get the recognition? Ohlund?

Redden! I'd second Aucoin too, even though he played more minutes last year.

Bonk is done for a month, and Magnus Von Arvedson's season is done.
