"MLB's Top 50 Free Agents": ESPN has come up with their own list of this off-season's Top 50 Free Agents. Assuming your home (or favourite) team had the money and the wherewithal to go for one, and only one of these "prized" free agents, who would you take? Keep your teams current roster in mind of course...

Here in Los Angeles, all the talk this off-season (though its just started) has centered around our "new owner" going after Vlad or A-Rod (via trade). Of course the local radio pinheads neglect to think of whether the Dodgers prospective buyer has the cash to complete the sale, much less whether or not he would keep the payroll at its current levels which is doubtful to say the least.
Having said that I want Vlad. We done him wrong on his first go around. I'd like to see him come back and turn this thing around. ESPN has Miguel Tejada swinging our way. Not bad, his stats this past year are down a bit. But when they're down a bit from MVP numbers and your squad can't manufacture runs, you don' t worry about it, you cut the check. My vote is still with Vlad. Most likely he stays in Montreal, but if I had my druthers, and on SpoFi I do, I take Vlad.

To qualify that move I put Shawn Green on first base.

Vlad's mom (a MAJOR influence in his decisions) doesn't want him to go to New York. Maybe LA is off the list as well.

I knew there was a reason why I like lilnemo. I think the Dodgers should go for Vlad. But I would settle for A-Rod. The Dodgers need to get out of their free agent dry spell.

"I would settle for A-Rod." - jasonspaceman 11/10/03 Miggy Tejada or world's scariest clown face?

I'm upset that they have the top three Marlins FAs leaving, with two going to the Cubs. I certainly hope the Marlins put up a good fight to keep these guys.

Vlad, Vlad, Vlad!

j-girl, you may want to re-word that statement.

I want to keep Vlad. Now go away, all of you!

I'm pretty sure j-girl knew exactly what she was saying. Having grown up with them, Jersey girls usually do when it comes to, er, rods. But damn those Cubbies are going to have to come up with beaucoup bucks!

Note to Red Sox: grab Keith Foulke. Millwood would fit in mighty nice though, they could use a horse in that rotation.

good call chuck. there are a lot of interesting scenerios. millwood is in some. colon is in others. personally, i wouldn't want colon.

I'd be content with Williamson for a full year as closer. Not a big fan of paying closers insane money. Unless they're named Mariano.

Isn't his contract up this year?

Is that a picture of the Angels' Rally Monkey being booked for heroin possession? Getting a protological exam? Seeing Marge Schott naked?!?

according to the Boston Herald baseball notebook, Sox have been talking to Everyday Eddie, Foulke and Hawkins. and i don't know if he qualifies in the Top 50, but Timlin hasn't come to an complete agreement with the Red Sox yet, so he's out there too.

Guardado and Hawkins would be less expensive, risky investments. Foulke is the guy they need; he's been in pressure before, he's obviously the best AL closer at this point. If they pinch pennies and go with one of the other two, I have a feeling it will catch up to them. This being said, Williamson wouldn't be bad either, he looked good in the playoffs for the most part.
