Another of the voices of my youth gone: Gil Santos.

The Patriots put together a Top 10 of Gil's calls. #6 features Scott Zolak behaving like . . . well, Scott Zolak in the background.

Unicorns and show ponies forever.

We can add the Patriots to the rest of the major teams in New England who have a legendary announcer who has passed on. When I finally go, I know I will enjoy listening to Ned Martin calling baseball, Bob Wilson (and Fred Cusick before him) sending us the Bruins, Johnny Most rousing the Celtics radio audience to a fever pitch, and now Gil Santos. We New Englanders have been fortunate to have had excellent announcers calling excellent teams.
