Michael Schumacher : took his place in the history books yesterday as the greatest racing driver of all time. Arguably.

Given the huge differences in cars from the past, can this comparison really be made?

Yes, I'd agree that he could well be the greatest racing driver of all time. It doesn't make me like him any more though.

Even Schumacher doesn't think its possible to compare him to Fangio. "I'm not trying to compare myself with Fangio. This man is greater than I see myself. You can't take a personality like Fangio and compare him with what has happened today - there is not even the slightest comparison. What he did stands for itself and what we do today is unique in another way"

The greatest driver of all time doesn't force his rivals out of the final race... twice. The greatest driver of all time also wouldn't have nearly choked last race, taking his wing off in one ill-advised move, then making another ill-advised move and take his brother's front-wing off.
