Is there a ranking that McEnroe could have suggested for Serena that wouldn't have been controversial?

The Knicks have canned Phil Jackson. Ding dong.

Now I can talk my NY fan friends down from their first floor window ledges.

A couple of years ago, they would have jumped from a higher floor, but they just quit caring about the team in general, so they're willing to jump 6-8 feet, but that's about it - provided the weather's nice and they can hear the Coolhaus ice cream truck coming around the corner.

Phil got a lovely parting gift from the players on his way out.

Maybe top 20.

I don't like McEnroe making the comment and sounding like he's down on women's tennis, but I like his response to the question, "Would you like to apologize?" He says, "No." It's nice to see the occasional person skip the apology theater.

He should apologize for trying to stir shit up when there's no point to it. Men's and women's tennis are different. End of story. Crapping on Serena's accomplishments by comparing her that way does nothing to help anyone. It doesn't sound like Serena was saying she's the greatest or she could beat any man, so it just sounds like McEnroe being an asshole again.

In an NPR interview, McEnroe said Serena was the best ever in women's tennis and was asked if she was the best in all of tennis.

He should've dodged the question to avoid making the women's game sound weak. But I don't think he believes it's weak. He does a great job talking it up during tournaments.
