At TD Garden for Paul Pierce's last game in Boston. Something I've never heard before, a massive, prolonged standing O as the Clippers come out for the layup line. Never before for a visiting player. You are loved, Paul Pierce.

With about 7 minutes left in the 1st quarter, the video tribute to Pierce played. My son and I are directly behind the Clippers bench, about 12 rows back. We could easily see the emotion on Pierce's face. I'm having trouble keeping the tears out of my eyes too.

That's awesome, Howard. Pierce is a great guy (and from what I saw during last year's playoffs, he's got a future as an analyst if he wants it).

I was at Steve Nash's first game back in Dallas after he signed with the Suns. He got a *huge* standing ovation both for the player introduction and when he scored his first basket. And then the game got competitive and everyone kind of stopped cheering for him.

The crowd keeps chanting for Paul Pierce to come back into the game. The only Paul that Doc Rivers wants to put in is Chris Paul.

So Rivers puts him in with just a few seconds left. Nobody is on him on defense, he goes to the spot from which he has hit so many big shots, and promptly drains a 3. Fitting ending for a great career.
